Campaign 2016 Part XVI: KICK THE BABY!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XVI: KICK THE BABY!

But you're comfortable with the idea that Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, and Jaunita Broaddrick were all trying to frame Bill Clinton?

Apples and oranges. I don't recall Clinton ever arrested for domestic abuse which is what Bannon got lugged for. Also I have a hard time believing any of those women because too much money was floating around on the right to get them to "remember" their stories decades later. Not only is Bannon's ex-wife not the one blowing the whistle, she has no financial incentive to do so at this point.

We're saying the same thing. I doubt Rubio survives a Trump loss. If Trump wins FL or makes it really close, perhaps he hangs on. I'm not expecting Trump to win FL, hence my prediction of Little Marco's demise.

FL isn't wildly out of whack yet, though -- 5 points in a D +1.0 state. Not to put too fine a point on it but there are a ton of old retired white racists in FL -- basically the entire Redneck Riviera, which is Diet Alabama.

Rubio has a potential problem just like Ayotte, Toomey, McCain, and Portman do, which is they're Establishment Goopers through and through, but they NEED Trump voters to vote for them as well. Portman right now has some slack to work with but the rest of them don't. Hence the ridiculous tortured logic of say Ayotte claiming she'll vote for Trump but not endorse him.

So, if Trump looks like he's going to lose come election day, his Breitbert inspired conspiracy theorist loons are going to be looking for someone to blame. Since I doubt half of the people you mention can tell the difference between Rubio and Ted Cruz, there's no guarantee they're going to vote for both Trump and Rubio (or the other Establishment senators). In fact I'd say Rubio due to his heritage is probably in the most trouble with this crowd, while maybe Portman gets more of a free pass since he hasn't actually badmouthed Trump any (although he did skip the convention in his home state).

If a minority runs as a Republican they become Honorary White. The far right tail at my work was all over Herman Cain last time and Ben Carson this time. They really liked the feeling of backing "one of the good ones." Rubio is essentially David Spade's character in PCU. I don't think any of those transplanted Ohioans will have the least problem pulling the lever for him.

First tier is IL-WI-NH-PA-IN.
...
I'd expect the 1st tier to all go Dem rather easily except for maybe IN.

Illinois is going to be messy. Mark Kirk (R) is the only Republican to meet with Marek Garland, so he's really bucking the party line. Kirk also has favorables with Latino voters. Kirk also is a stroke survivor with limited mobility. But he's fallen out of favor with the Republican party.

His opponent, Representitive Tammy Duckworth is a highly decorated war vet, and double amputee thanks to a rocket propelled grenade that took out her Black Hawk helicopter in the second Iraq War. And she polls favorably in the suburbs and has a pretty strong Dem backing.

The real fun began last week when Mark Kirk called Obama "The Drug Dealer In Chief."
Duckworth pounced stating that Kirk was "Unhinged," and needed to apologize.
Kirk retorted that Duckworth's "Unhinged" comment was...

..."insensitive to stroke victims."

Yep, Kirk yelled "coup-fourré!" before Duckworth could use hers. The winner of the game of Mille Bornes wins the Illinois Senate seat.

Never go up against a Clinton when death is on the line.

You have to be at least 45 to remember the 80s when the Democrats used to get mowed down by Lee Atwater and his GOP ilk because they'd respond to negative ads by sniffing about trusting the voters to reward them for taking the high road. That's the world the Clintons came of political age in, and the lesson they took from it is "nice guys finish last."

The difference between Obama and the Clintons is stark. Obama on campaign was a sushi chef, dispassionately eviscerating the Republicans to a Philip Glass score. The Clintons glory in it. "Crush your enemies! See them driven before you! Hear the lamentations of their women!" When the Clintons go to work on an opponent it's the "Stuck in the Middle with You" torture scene in Reservoir Dogs.

It's creepy, but if you did live through being continually punched in the face by the Republican Machine throughout the 80s, it is hella satsifying.

Awesome reference! Though "Mille Bones" sounds like the pr0n parody. :p

I gotta believe Kirk is road kill. Hillary is winning IL by ten points more than favorite son Obama did.

Uh oh. Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Die-hard Donald Trump fan Sarah Palin on Thursday went after her candidate for using slightly softer language to describe his plans to carry out the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants from the country.

“Donald Trump understands that enforcing the laws and building that wall are paramount to what the will of the people is,” Palin told guest host Eric Bolling on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor.”

“And thank God he’s still preaching that," she continued, "because if he were not, then there would be a huge erosion of support.”

"Nice campaign you've got here. Be a shame if something happened to it."

Meh...I think we're in unknown territory here. Country clubbers have no problem voting for minority Republicans as long as they don't try to join their club. ;) Trump voters revel in their racism. If Rubio had any appeal with these people he wouldn't have gotten crushed in his home state in the primary by a guy from New York. They could very well vote for him. I'm curious to see if they do or not because Trump has made bigotry cool again on the right. I don't think its a given that Rubio gets these votes.

Some of the replies to that article are.. well... interesting.

They are. Also they are 90% wingnut, despite WaPo being "a liberal bastion." Weird. A lot of them seem scripted, to say the least, so perhaps it's bot city.

538 projects Johnson will get enough votes to qualify the Libertarian Party for federal matching funds in 2020.

I'm convinced the downfall of civilization will be traced back to the advent of the comments section on mainstream internet news articles. In the quest to be interactive (remember when that word was fresh?) the comments section was thought to be the innovation of the computer age, a ramping up of democracy on a scale yet to be seen. The truth has been a bit different.

Right of Way is so OP. It was the only card I ever got in a knock-down drag-out fight over. Safe from Stops, safe from Speed Limits, AND you don't have to play a Roll after fixing a hazard which saves a turn.

Funny that a recent Time article pointed out how the web has done a great job keeping all of the hate people going. They have a place to vent and be with each other outside of the view of the public. They can get out an really abuse people like Lesley Jones- http://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/07/leslie-jones-exposes-twitter terrible.

These are Trump supporters.

I agree. RoW was the killer app of MB. It was way too powerful. It was also one of the most attractive cards in a very attractive deck.
