Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

From what I've read, the rules were different in the Rice/Powell era. That being said, just b/c one person did wrong (arguably or not) does not excuse the current wrong. When the FBI says that any person in their position behaved carelessly and was irresponsible, that just comes across as a red flag to me.

But you SHOULD be up in arms about what the previous administrations did. And what I read is that they actually exposed state secrets, as opposed to Hillary that *could* have but nobody found anything.

BTW, carelessly and irresponsibly is NOT criminal. You don't send someone to jail- you send them for a time out, or ground them.

And I'm not saying it's right. It's no worse. And that matters.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

Gary Johnson wants to implement to "fair tax," privatize all healthcare, eliminate the dept of Ed, cut the federal budget by 40%, and eliminate the Fed.

Yeah, Hillary is still the better choice over him, and it's not even close.

"Fair Tax" isn't fair. Do the math. All it means is that the people who save more (and the rich can) will pay less tax. Moreso- with means, you can spend your money in other countries. It's far from fair.

And while those positions sound all nice and liberal, when I read his web page, I didn't find that at all. So, for a 3rd party candidate, I could not find enough +- to change my vote.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

Yes, blind. There IS a third choice. No chance at winning, but the Shillary Sheeple are just as bad as the Trump Sheeple. Lesser evil and all. It's a sad state of affairs.

Just wanted to point out that trying to force people into a 3rd choice by calling them sheeple is pretty much the same thing.

The job, as voters, is to determine which candidate fills your personal +- list the best. You call it the lesser of two evils because you have some reason that you hate Hillary- which, I'd like to point out, you've not actually said why. They are people with positions- to me, the positions of the Democratic candidate ticks more +- than any of the others. I base this on listening to what they say and intend to do- not some emotional thing that you keep bringing up.

As Trump has said, as have MANY other business people, this isn't personal, it's business.

If you want to continue to label people, feel free, but just be aware that all it really does is make it easier and easier to dismiss your posts outright.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

I could somewhat agree. We know EXACTLY where Trump stands. Hillary is "playing the game with the best of them" (paraphrased from a Shillary supporter). I still want neither of them elected.

This is pure insanity and also why we even need be nervous that the orange baboon might get elected. We know nothing of what Trump would do in office. Nothing.

Wanting neither of them elected is insanity. The insanity that got GW Bush elected. Good play there. Great.

If that's all it takes for you to dismiss posts, you shouldn't be reading much in this thread.

There ARE voters that are choosing the candidate that is best for them. And there are voters who are voting blindly because of party affiliation (the ones I'm calling sheeple). There IS a difference.

No. No. No.

There are voters who are voting for someone to be President and voters who are voting for someone who aren't voting at all. Writing my mom's name in isn't voting. Bernie was the ultimate independent. Stop and ask yourself why he ran as a Democrat for a minute. When you figure that out then you'll know why we only have two choices.

Or just be a Nader and watch the world burn.

Yes. Yes. Yes. There are voters who really think Trump is the best candidate for them. There are voters who really think Hillary is the best candidate for them. There are voters who are voting independent because (insert candidate) is the best candidate for them.

And then there are people who see (D), (R), and (I) and vote just because of that designation. These people are the sheeple.

I actually get that. And don't call them morons, but wonder what their actual beef is. It's fine to remind people that there are more than two candidates that will show up on the ballot in November- but just labeling the ones who have chosen will never sway their opinion. It actually makes them dig into their position more. What makes a Trump supporter so quick to suspend the First Amendment that easily? What makes a Trump supporter think he's so much more honest than anyone else out there? Trump has repeatedly used the laws on the books to save his failing companies via bankruptcy- how does that make him know about the middle class?

I didn't want Bush in '04, but thought it was not a good idea for many of the left to accuse the ones who voted for him idiots and morons- it's far better to understand WHY and figure out how to change their minds.

Kind of the point that people keep asking what the Hillary hate is all about. Anyone can explain that in a rational manner would be very helpful.

Or even why the standard is so much higher for HER emails than the previous administrations. If the LAWS changed, what were they? And why is it so hard to accept that all of the hearings have found nothing, and that the FBI have not found enough to prosecute?

Helpful hint- instead of labeling them, help them figure out a different way of looking at it.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XV: Before & After: Dancing in the Streets of Philadelphia!

The folks who vote straight ticket by letter aren't necessarily sheep. The letters do mean the candidate has survived the nomination party process, and that carries a lot of policy baggage. Since 1980 you could probably have correctly identified 95% of policy stances by letter without ever looking more deeply into things.

I hope all the deep thinking Nader ****wads enjoyed the Iraq War, the ignoring of climate change, the decimation of the economy, and the tax cuts for billiionaire's. Keep thinking voters.

Voters who just throw their hands up and declare them all equally corrupt using simplistic and unsupported equivalencies are giving it no more thought than strict partisans.

Evidently that Saudi Arabia gaffe from The Orange Idiot wasn't likely a security breach.

More likely that he's just so out of touch and making **** up as he goes that he thinks we pay rent on a base that hasn't existed for years.

Correct.

And after this conversation we've had in here and many others I've had I hope Trump wins. I won't vote for him but I do hope he wins. Why? Because he's exactly what America deserves.

I agree. I mean they ARE all corrupt BUT at least put some thought behind your vote (or non-vote).
