Then those voters, like those in Wisconsin, get the government they deserve. Its not like living in Louisiana where any sophisticated voter is doomed under the weight of the Duck Dynasty crowd. Enough people managed to vote to put Obama over the top in 2008 and close in 2012. Either these people are 1) ticket splitting for statewide races, or 2) not voting. Dems should have a viable candidate for Gov in a Presidential year in 2016 in the form of the current AG in NC. If voters still want to elect McCrory, that's their right but again they get what's coming to them if that's the case.

Throw in Maine, too. Hopefully all of these states will learn from their mistakes. Kansas didn't, but that could be an example of a state doomed to live under a third world theocracy.

I know you said that. I just think the combination of learning nothing by voting GOP in the first place and then adding the disaster of Brownback to it was worth highlighting.

Kansas is sorta like Louisiana without the inbreeding (I think). Too many fundies to overcome. WI is a good example of voter apathy. Either 1) People voted for Obama, then Walker, then Walker again, then Obama, then Walker, which is possible but somewhat unlikely, 2) a bunch of Obama voters left the state in 2010, came back in 2012, then left again in 2014, or 3) people who voted for Obama didn't bother to vote in 2010 or 2014. Don't vote and the people that do make the rules. In this day and age I'm really surprised people don't get that yet.

This should surprise nobody. Jeb is a far more committed Neocon than Dubya. Dubya was merely following Cheney's orders. Jeb bleeds this crap. He's the living embodiment of PNAC.

I don't get what happened in WI. From a distance it looks like how Rob Ford won in Toronto: a suburban tax revolt that winds up pushing the meth heads into power. That sounds like a massive failure by WI Democrats to field good candidates and get their messaging right.

LA went south in a hurry. In the 90's it was still considered a wildcard that could never be counted upon; now it's in a race with MS and TX for dumbest state in the union (I exclude AZ out of respect for Dr. Mrs. Kepler).

KS has a lethal dose of Fundy Fever -- it may as well be Pakistan at this point.

I honestly think that 2000-2020 Kansas is going to have political science and economics papers written on it for decades. Maybe longer. It truly is a real life example of what happens to a state when you cease funding it.

Speaking of courts, I believe in Kansas school districts are going to court against the state over the education cuts as it pertains to compying with Brown vs Board of Education - the funds going to ensure the gap between districts isn't too great are the ones being cut due to the lack of revenue.

Off topic but its similar to Illinois where the court rejected the pension cuts put in place to stabilize the state retirement system. Its interesting to see how much drastic budget cutting ends up being allowed under the law.

How's that? I mean, it's near the food center of the US, it has I-35 cutting it in half one way and I-70 cutting it in half the other, it's near oil-producing AND refining states. I mean, it really doesn't have any limitations that places like Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, or any of the other midwestern states have.

A state can have some weaknesses, but it needs some solid strength somewhere or there are ceilings to what it can become. Cali has earthquakes, costs, and crowding issues...but its a beauty of a place with coasts and fantastic weather. Minnesota is cold, but does have lots of water, nature, woods, Mississippi, Superior. The plains are fine but are lacking in any geography that will take them to the next level. And freeways don't move the needle. Maybe cepting govt spending you're chomping to move to KS, but due to geography they have a ceiling and will never reach the status of other comparable states: CO/MN/TX. That's what I meant...and btw I did agree with your statement about spending.
