He is setting the pace...look for 3/4 of the GOP candidates to agree with him in principle and watch their numbers tank. Normally I would say the GOP establishment needs to punt these guys out but the money they will raise will always keep them around.

We're still in a war in Iraq. The sky is falling. And if you don't believe state elections matter then you're not really paying attention to what is happening around the country. There's about a dozen states right now that are passing laws preventing a woman from getting an abortion if she is raped. Even if it's by a family member. This includes what the House GOP is bringing to the floor this week.

Pure speculation of course but take away from Obama's totals VA, OH, FL, WI if you'd like and CO. That would leave presumably Hillary with 253 electoral votes, merely 17 away from paydirt. Take NC away from the GOP to be fair as its been about the closest state the last two elections. That puts GOP at 191.

Getting 17 more votes vs 79. I know which team I'd rather be on at first glance. As WI has voted Dem the last 6! Presidential elections I'm not prepared to say it will switch. If that's the case, she needs 1 out of 5 (VA, OH, FL, CO, or NC) to become Prez. For the record, Obama when 5 of those 5 in 2008 and 4 of 5 in 2012...

The one thing the GOP has going for them is they don't have a lot of potential states that might flip away from them but that's cold comfort when you have to just about run the table in all swing states to win while your opponent just needs one.

While I don't think he'll win, I will be curious how well Rand Paul does if he goes isolationist with the exception of the kowtow down to Israel that's a requirement of all Republicans. He could make trouble especially in NH if he differentiates himself strongly and focuses on this issue.

I didnt say they stole it for the GOP, they wanted a ballot that would be confusing. Florida is stupid, run by idiots on both sides of the aisle and they dont have loyalty to anyone. (outside of Jeb who had obvious allegiance)

The fact that the Democrats didnt challenge the election on the voter purge alone proves they didnt deserve to win anyways. Black people with similar names to criminals kept from voting "just in case"? Tens of thousands denied their rights just cause? Criminal.

Rand is done...he has flipped on all of his "libertarian" policies including now discussing the role of faith in policy and upping the defense budget. Bill Maher raked him over the coals over it last week. There is a reason Rand has gone almost into hiding ever since he announced his candidacy in front of an aircraft carrier.

It's all they've got. They can't run on domestic policy for obvious reasons. The dog whistle homophobia and racism only helps them in their current states whereas they need to broaden the map. God knows what they'll do when the misogyny really starts rolling out. With a woman at the head of the Dem ticket, the Todd Akin types are going to wind up looking like Susan B. Anthony. Get ready for the summer of "That's Reverse Sexism!!!"

My guess is the GOP is screwed on women the way they are screwed on homophobia. They are used to peddling out the racist stuff and they can get away with it because of segregation: the apes among us are easily driven to fear what they are unfamiliar with. They tried the same strategy with gays and it worked as long as they were closeted, but the moment Uncle Cletus and Niece Betty June came out it was, "whoa -- these people are family. Stop calling them names!" How much worse will it be when they start slagging women? They use code words like the whole Rush bit about Sandra Fluke, but these clueless old geeks don't understand that most families have a Sandra Fluke at Thanksgiving dinner, and when you try to slut shame them you're attacking family.

Having a token woman on the undercard ought to help, but there's no shortage on the right of Palin types who hide behind their gender when it suits them while emitting the same sexist grunts as their men folk, who the Bible puts in charge, dontcha know?

You know, I usually think you're a smart guy, and then you go and parrot Mother Jones conspiracies like this that make you look as gullible as FlagDUDE.

Lets not forget though, this is the party whose constituents booed a soldier cause he was gay. They love America and the soldiers unless they do things they find icky ;)

Backing systemic abuses in order to move the needle on election results is not a "conspiracy," it's a strategy. The Republicans have been actively attempting to depress voter turnout by ginning up scare stories of voter fraud which does not exist. They do this to give themselves a better chance of winning elections. You don't have to be humming The Internationale* to know that is happening.

* But hum it anyway, cause it's weirdly catchy.

And they succeeded in doing this in North Carolina. A state with a great economic engine, and great schools. Now in addition to suppressing voter turnout to get GOP control they're systematically destroying the school system there.

Then those voters, like those in Wisconsin, get the government they deserve. Its not like living in Louisiana where any sophisticated voter is doomed under the weight of the Duck Dynasty crowd. Enough people managed to vote to put Obama over the top in 2008 and close in 2012. Either these people are 1) ticket splitting for statewide races, or 2) not voting. Dems should have a viable candidate for Gov in a Presidential year in 2016 in the form of the current AG in NC. If voters still want to elect McCrory, that's their right but again they get what's coming to them if that's the case.

Can't argue with that. What's happened in Wisconsin and continues to happen there is frightening.
