Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

Are you surprised? It's all they have.

True, but I didn't expect them to overlook one of their own candidates making his announcement....

On another note...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p>rand paul wrote this, which doesn't seem smart. <a href="http://t.co/V9uuDNFS3Y">pic.twitter.com/V9uuDNFS3Y</a></p>— i, rl (@twolinepass) <a href="https://twitter.com/twolinepass/status/588745889608499201">April 16, 2015</a></blockquote>

Rand was later heard to say, "I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it's full of ****"

Rand Paul told Savannah Guthrie how to do her job. The man is drip slime and he's going to be a drag on the GOP. So, just like the rest of the field.

Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

Yeah, a friend of mine went to UNH on an athletic scholarship. She earned a degree in physical education because she wanted to be a hoops coach and gym teacher. Then her sister gets her a job in Arizona making six figures and she's griping to me about her $700 car payment and 2K mortgage. Didn't take her long to forget what it was like to earn $10/hour. Like I want to hear about her money problems. Now she and her husband are building an absolute palace in Texas, complete with 4-car garage and (wait for it) a car elevator.

That's very common. People's savings rates are often not nearly as high as you'd think they should be once they start making good money. We become accustomed to the new income level and start spending to match. When you're in college, living on next to nothing for income, and you think, "If only I was making $40k, I'd be living LARGE." (MN example, clearly, not Boston or NYC.) Then when it happens, you're looking around, wondering where all that extra cash is. I'd go into detail behing the reasons, but there's no need here. If you want to look it up, it as to do with budget contraint and indifference curve analysis.

LOL. Byline says it all.

When the last neocon is strangled with the intestines of the last theocon, America might have a chance. Jenny Rubin is an infected pimple on the Beltway's anus.
She's good for a laugh. Seriously though, if you want to beat Mrs. Clinton in the primaries, how do you do it? Mud? Issues? Platitudes? Go hard left? Or figure she'll do it herself?

I see that the latest phony outrage with regards to BURRITOGATE is that Countess Bathory didn't tip. Just like everyone else who eats at Chipotle. :p

Somebody fire up a Congressional investigation baby! Make sure another "rising star" heads it up.

It depends who you are. If you're a handsome Democratic liberal who wishes he had a candidate more reflective of his values, you back a candidate like Bernie, encourage him to challenge her from the left in order to either draw her to the left (thus achieving your purpose while leaving her candidacy in place) or forcing her to double-down on center-right rhetoric, thus pealing off more and more left votes and creating the possibility of another 2008 funny thing happening on the way to the coronation.

If you're a conservative who just wants to damage her for the general, you write Rubin's column, and run a thousand other concern troll tactics which each follow Fishy's template of "some are worried that..." transparent mendacity.

Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

There was a retrospective analysis posted recently about 2008, and the premise was did Clinton blow a winnable race or did she lose to the one person capable of beating her? I personally think she had too many dead-enders running her campaign that typically lose Dems elections (the MacAuliff-Shrum-Penn crowd) but there's something to be said for a challenge from the left. I would say only Lizzy Warren could make it interesting and nobody else but she's not running (sorry Kep ;) )

PS - Regarding Rubin, few things were funnier in 2012, aside from maybe the Unskewed Polls website and Megyn Kelly humiliating Karl Rove on national TV, than Jennifer Rubin's articles before and after the election. Leading up election day it was all about how every sign pointed to a Romney win. Afterwards it was all about how she could see the loss coming! No points off for consistency or accuracy I guess... :D

The only pundit I can think of who is more of a joke than Jennifer Rubin is William Kristol. John Podhoretz completes the hat trick. They make Anne Coulter look circumspect and Michelle Malkin look intelligent.

In 2008, Clinton was still too close to her Iraq War vote to beat anybody coherent who lacked that baggage. With the passing years, the monstrosity of Iraq has faded in voters' minds, so she has a better chance now. However, I think there's one thing that you're failing to take account of. She has to DESTROY the other candidates in IA and NH. If anybody gets close, the whole narrative will be the crown is sliding from Melisandre's grasp once more.

She has a 2-goal lead.

There's no tip jar at the Chipotle I go to. I think it's pretty standard that at a place where you stand in line (and draw your own drinks) you don't tip.

Then again, we're not running for president. She (or her people) should probably tip everywhere.

Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

The women was involved in the assassination of four embassy workers in Benghazi, and you're worried about a stinkin' BURRITO?!?!?!

Of course, I'll be shocked if we even have an election at the rate things are going.
