Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

Kasich's problem is that he represents 1990's corporate conservatism, much like John Boner did. That's way on the outs in the modern GOP. Kasich is the candidate of 60+ year old Beltway pundits who's been in Washington for 40 years and think the country still wants guys like this for President. My money remains on Calgary Ted. He's got the bucks, he straddles the line between social cons and corporate cons, and his dedication to right wing causes is spotless, unlike Obamacare expanding Kasich or amnesty sponsoring Rubio.

Yes and no. He's also be somewhat progressive on some of the social issues. I don't think he's your father's candidate but I also don't think he's a Tea Party zealot (but I repeat myself). He seems more pragmatic on the social issues (from some site called "Conservative Review" - https://www.conservativereview.com/2016-presidential-candidates )
And I've said all along that when the Court makes a decision, we abide by the law of the land. And they made their determination and—just move on. It doesn't mean I'm not disappointed, I am, but the decision has been made.
Kasich told a crowd at a campaign event that "Roe v. Wade is the law of the land."
Kasich said that he, in theory, would like to end Planned Parenthood funding but he lacks the will power to do so. He said he hasn't in Ohio because he is afraid of losing Medicaid funding, and he wouldn't force a showdown with President Obama over it, because it may result in a government shutdown.

Is he Bernie Sanders? No. But among Republicans, he's really moderated himself over the last decade.

He looks left wing because of who he's running against. If this were a normal field (say a 1990 Field) he'd be the radical. That's how far right that party has gone.

Not really. From 538:

While I question any methodology that puts Christie and Carson that far "left", for the most part this checks with my thoughts on the candidates and where they stand. It is interesting seeing the 79/80 GOP vs. today's GOP on the graph. Cool.

Although the graph is interesting it obviously is massively flawed. Carson and Christie are NO WAY that far left. No way. I'd vote for a conservative that was as left as Nixon. They're not even close.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

If you're asking when we can take him seriously as a force in the nomination, I'd say 6 weeks ago. He's having an enormous effect, even if it's just to block the lane for somebody who should have been using this time to either consolidate (Bush) or break through (Cruz). If you're asking when we can take him seriously as a candidate for public office, I'd say never. Donald Trump will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be president because, among other reasons, he doesn't want to be. This is the greatest troll in political, nay, world history.

He can win some primaries, but eventually he's going to start losing, and then he'll do some bizarre diva last dance and flounce off. And then during the general campaign he'll make noises about asking people to write him in as a protest, and then, finally, he'll endorse Hillary. And... scene.

I'm more talking for the nomination. If the guys gets the most delegates I don't see him pulling a General Sherman ("If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve"). He may end up being a kingmaker though, and who's the only person he's not feuding with? Calgary Ted.

Its been said that George Wallace never expected to be elected President in '68, but had he won 200,000 more votes to take a few more Southern states he would have denied Nixon 270 electoral votes, thus throwing the election into chaos with him in the middle of it all.

Yeah, the Christie and Carson thing are interesting blips. I'd love to see the data and methodology.

I think he could seriously challenge for the Republican nomination as he is an empty bag which angry people can fill up with their grievances. That might net Hillary 40 states, but I still hope it never happens here. History is clear what happens after you start doing that.

Carson has Herman Cain Syndrome. He's reached a high enough point of popularity that people are actually going to start caring about and looking into the aura of bull**** that he's used to build that popularity. The West Point stuff might blow over, but the other stuff he made up about his past(I stabbed a guy...it just didn't leave a mark) is going to be the end of his run. He's got about three weeks left, because there is literally nothing else to his campaign besides the See? Black People Are Just Lazy narrative. Next time the Republicans need to go with somebody better vetted for that role, like LeBron.

There goes that eeeeeeevil left-wing media again! :D

Basically, it depends on what your definition of the phrase "offered a full scholarship" is. It seems he was told (probably through Gen. Westmoreland's contacts) that he would be given a full ride if he applied, but since he decided not to apply, there is no record of a scholarship offer formally being extended.

Took me 2 minutes before I had to turn that off, because of both the Carson rap track and the puerile host.

It was the only place I could find the actual dumb ad. The first four tries laces turned out to be parodies.

Right, but by that logic, I probably could have gotten into say, Georgia Tech, with my high school credentials, but I don't say I was offered admissions. And I don't add it to my autobiography with comically awful details that show I know nothing about admission to the school.

Not to mention it's West Point. Everyone goes for free. There's no such thing as a scholarship to West Point unless you consider everyone to be on one.

The latest story is that Carson made up a story about being named "Most Honest" in a Yale psych class that never existed. I was being generous when I said three weeks.
