And now, a modest proposal.

If Jeb Bush became a Democrat, I’m not saying he’d win the nomination, let alone the presidency, but he’d have a better shot at either than he currently does in the Republican Party.

Which is naturally ridiculous. But read the whole thing, because my God underneath the satire there are some very sobering truths.

He has less of a host in the Democratic Party then he does in the Republican party. That statement is more Republican Narcissistic BS.

His position on immigration is irrelevant. It's been a decade since Jebbers! meddled in Terri Schiavo's case, then got his brother involved, and finally proceeded to do everything in his power to make her ex-husband's life miserable when he couldn't "save" her, all of which he still refuses to concede he was the least bit wrong about. John Ellis Bush belongs nowhere near the Democratic Party.

He's Catholic. Can't starve a person to death. Death must be natural.

Pretty sure that Catholic is pro war...since when is bombing or shooting someone a "natural death"?

I'm aware. Without re-hashing the entire case, let's just say, I strongly disagree with most of the legal (and ultimately, unconstitutional) measures he took to meddle in the case.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

So we're talking to a pro-starvation lobby are we?

No, you're talking to the lobby that believes there were considerations about quality of life to be made, and that the ability of those with power of attorney to make care and end-of-life decisions should not have been interfered with by politicians trying to advance the "pro life at all costs no nuances or exceptions ever because GOD" agenda.

You do play "Jump to Conclusions" very well, however. So here's the mat:

Also known as the "let someone who has lost half of their brain mass die naturally instead of being kept "alive" by machines" lobby. It was hotly contested by the "Senate Majority Leader who thinks he can diagnose someone by watching 5 random minutes of tape from the previous 15 years" lobby.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

I'm not Catholic, but machines keeping someone alive doesn't seem to jive with the die naturally reference joe put forth.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

I'm not Catholic, but machines keeping someone alive doesn't seem to jive with the die naturally reference joe put forth.

The official Catholic positions according to the USCCB are as follows. I bolded the important parts:

55. Catholic health care institutions offering care to persons in danger of death from illness, accident, advanced age, or similar condition should provide them with appropriate opportunities to prepare for death. Persons in danger of death should be provided with whatever information is necessary to help them understand their condition and have the opportunity to discuss their condition with their family members and care providers. They should also be offered the appropriate medical information that would make it possible to address the morally legitimate choices available to them. They should be provided the spiritual support as well as the opportunity to receive the sacraments in order to prepare well for death.

56. A person has a moral obligation to use ordinary or proportionate means of preserving his or her life. Proportionate means are those that in the judgment of the patient offer a reasonable hope of benefit and do not entail an excessive burden or impose excessive expense on the family or the community.40

57. A person may forgo extraordinary or disproportionate means of preserving life. Disproportionate means are those that in the patient's judgment do not offer a reasonable hope of benefit or entail an excessive burden, or impose excessive expense on the family or the community.41

58. There should be a presumption in favor of providing nutrition and hydration to all patients, including patients who require medically assisted nutrition and hydration, as long as this is of sufficient benefit to outweigh the burdens involved to the patient.

59. The free and informed judgment made by a competent adult patient concerning the use or withdrawal of life-sustaining procedures should always be respected and normally complied with, unless it is contrary to Catholic moral teaching.

60. Euthanasia is an action or omission that of itself or by intention causes death in order to alleviate suffering. Catholic health care institutions may never condone or participate in euthanasia or assisted suicide in any way. Dying patients who request euthanasia should receive loving care, psychological and spiritual support, and appropriate remedies for pain and other symptoms so that they can live with dignity until the time of natural death.42

61. Patients should be kept as free of pain as possible so that they may die comfortably and with dignity, and in the place where they wish to die. Since a person has the right to prepare for his or her death while fully conscious, he or she should not be deprived of consciousness without a compelling reason. Medicines capable of alleviating or suppressing pain may be given to a dying person, even if this therapy may indirectly shorten the person's life so long as the intent is not to hasten death. Patients experiencing suffering that cannot be alleviated should be helped to appreciate the Christian understanding of redemptive suffering.

62. The determination of death should be made by the physician or competent medical authority in accordance with responsible and commonly accepted scientific criteria.

Those were taken from a previous version of the USCCB website which has since been refreshed. If you have a lot of time, you will likely find similar directives somewhere in here: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/end-of-life/index.cfm

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

This is literally just breaking, so I can't provide a source that is any good (no, Entertainment Weekly does not count as a scoop). But basically, resident New Yawker ex-chef/writer/CNN travel personality/noted pugilist a-hole Tony Bourdain just threw a grenade at Trump's immigration policy, claiming the entire restaurant industry would be crippled if Trump were elected (due to its significant reliance on fly-by-night workers/undocumented immigrants).

I gotta say, I think Trump may have finally met an ego as big as his. Now, let's see how well he handles it. ;)

EDIT: I guess Eater mag might be OK? http://www.eater.com/2015/10/29/9638304/anthony-bourdain-donald-trump-immigration

We're not talking McD's workers here, Joe, so maybe spare them the denigration (your original "duck sauce" was a bit better :p). We're talking independent restaurants in major cities. Restaurants that are not part of chains, or celeb chef empires, and do not have the resources to run background checks, drug tests, etc. that cost hundreds of dollars per candidate, on the people they hire. It's a fact that your average dishwasher, prep guy, or line cook is not white, and there's also a decent chance that if an official were to ask, "Ver are your papers!", they would be suspect at best.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

Didn't need to watch the debate to know that Rubio would be declared the winner as that was decided by the lamestream media in the past couple of weeks. He's the new Carly Fiorina (eww)! Mind you, if he gets Bush's corpse out of the race he would have done the country a huge favor. I just don't know what the trust fund/country club set is going to do without Jebbers! however. Is Mittens still available to run? ;)

But it would be funny if Bush's team started airing some dirty laundry about Rubio leading up to the New Hampshire primary which is going to get rid of a lot of Establishment types (Bush, Kasich, Christie) thus leaving Trump-Carson-Cruz to fight over the lunatic wing of the party.

Oh please, oh please have these two go at it. Bourdain is a really smart guy who pretends to be stupid, and Trump is a really stupid guy who pretends to be smart. And both of them fight New York fame whore style, which is half Spanish Harlem shiv and half Upper West Side passive-aggressive Jew.

It would be wonderful.

Re: Campaign 2016 - I'm Biden my time till I doctor the hearing.

I find it funny that you add the exclamation point to all of your Jebbers! comments when Senator Wellstone actually did print all of his signs as "Wellstone!" during his final campaign. In fact, it he had a progression. During his first campaign, his signs all read, "Wellstone", and then during his first reelection campaign, they read, "Wellstone." Finally, during the 2002 campaign, when his airplane crashed in northern Minnesota, his signs all read, "Wellstone!". I've never seen another candidate use punctuation like that on their signs.
