Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Makes sense. Unless you already put down a substantial deposit, you might get out for free or only a few hundred lost if you bail now on trips from June onward.
Well the thing is a lot of canadiens own hotels in Florida and make bank on return customers who book now for next year and they are getting no calls. So it's a double problem with cancelations.

The problem I see is even if there's a massive blue wave for the house/senate in 26 and a Dem wins in 28: unless the nation can support an FDR to Johnson type era, the Democrats won't be able to fix Trump's mess fast enough for the "What have you done for me now?" crowd. As I've gotten older, I've seen it takes time for these initiatives to work. Infrastructure bills, on-shoring of jobs, everything takes time for the cycle to adjust. But the Tea-Party-esque types want to see immediate results. Its why DOGE has found its niche supporters. They want results, and want to see them now.

Rebuilding takes time and commitment. The GOP want instant gratification.

Markets, as we've seen, drop in a hurry. Building them back up takes time.
If the Dems get those kinds of victories it will be because everything craters. If everything craters I think the voters give the "right" Dem President time. They did with Obama he just was flaccid and weak. He could have brought real change the people handed him a mandate.

Dow closed at its lowest since St. Patrick's Day. Excluding the pre-St. Patrick's Day bottom and dead cat bounce, it's the lowest the market has been since September 17th, 2024.

So the X trainwreck gets passed from Saudis who might murder you if they don't get their investment back to xAI investors who I guess probably won't?

I would say he still respected the rule of law, but potato, potato.

We didn't take January 6th seriously just like Wiemar didn't take the Beerhall Putsch seriously. When fascists tell you who they are, imprison them and take their voting privileges away for life.

All of the analysis I've read is that this seems like a shitty deal for shareholders of both companies but in the end still the best way to preserve value for both.

Twitter investors don't have any chance at getting their money back without this deal.

My opinion is that xAI probably get screwed the most, but if we're just doing "Katamari: X" with several turds of companies, this might also help with other mergers to increase the total size of the company and likelihood of coming out on top in the coming rugpull.

I assume it's a rugpull but I hope Elmo spreads the derp of Xitler so pervasively through his entire corporate structure that all his companies are irreparably compromised, like subprime mortgage securities. If they all collapse together, he dies broke and alone in his Führerbunker.

AI companies are also burning through billions with no clear goal in sight as is, so what's $33B throw out here or there?

He could have done it legally, he had both houses.
