Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

ADP says just 54,000 jobs added for August.

I'm sure Donnie's new dept. head will have a much higher number. Like 2 million or something.

While the title says it’s since 2009, we know that’s not true because most of us have been investing and know what our portfolios have done since then. Also, the X-axis lists days, and the endpoint is roughly 175-180. This means the timeline end is around June 30.

It was expected to be 75k so that is really bad.

Meanwhile bad jobs numbers aren't hurting the markets because stock buybacks are continuing along propping it up. When this bubble bursts it is going to be epic.

You can Google "stock buybacks" to see all the press releases on what Handy is talking about here.

Listening to CNBC on XM this morning and one of the commercials made me LOL at the absolute cognitive dissonance the right and MAGA have a stranglehold of.

Typical MAGA talking points:
"Climate change is a hoax!"
"These destructive storms have always happened."
"There's too much bloat in federal employment, we need to cut staff."
"There's too much waste in these government budgets, we need to cut funding."

Commercial on CNBC this AM:
"The world is getting hotter and destructive storms are getting more frequent. FEMA is understaffed, overworked, and severely underfunded. No one is coming to rescue you. So that's why 4Patriot is selling meals-ready-to-eat kits at these incredibly low prices! Buy one MRE, get one free!"

That sounds about right. Never ever think that the right won't try and make a profit off of the very lies that they tell you every single day.

Someone's getting fi-yerd.........

August jobs:+22,000. That is pathetic.

Also, June jobs report revised down to a loss of 13,000 jobs. first net loss since Dec. 2020.

Reminder that you need around 150,000 new jobs added each month just to keep up with the population growth of new working age folks.

Helluva economy ya got there, Trumpy.

Wow...that is worse than I thought and I was thinking it was gonna be bad. That revision is phucking deadly.

Gonna be a loooong winter.
Black Unemployment (especially Women but just in general) is like double the rate of the total Unemployment rate. I heard a media type talking about how this is a "Canary in the Coalmine" type situation because they aren't getting laid off from high level or even middle management type jobs, it is rather low end work. That means base level/retail/menial jobs are contracting.

the WSJ basically admitted the whole thing is a joke...saying the markets are healthy because profits are up but profits are up because salaries are down and the average amount of hours worked by individuals is up. Add in some buy backs and you have businesses bringing in case and spending way less while workers either work harder or risk firing.

Gen Z has it right...time to get out of the work market.

I’m beginning to understand why some people just can’t go on anymore
I have 2 jobs...and that is barely enough. My 78 year old father works 20 hours a week because SS between him and my mom is barely enough. Prices are worse than they were last summer and climbing.

There was a few very dark times this summer.

I can’t remember the last time it wasn’t a dark day for me. It’s a weird place to just not care about anything anymore
