I'm sure he'll still get his share of single tech bros to fill junior & intermediate-level positions, but I wouldn't be shocked if the attrition rate for senior contributors and employees over 30 skyrockets. Who the fuck wants to commute in every day when you've got a kid or two, daycare is insanely expensive & in high demand, gas is $5+/gal, and you've got plenty of other, more flexible employers interested in your skillset?

I would hope this isn't why Tesla employees would quit.

I've been through this once before, so I know the challenges and the warning signs. We'll see how much of that TPTB can smooth over. For now we get to keep our brand, our upper management, and our systems & processes, so we come in basically as a subsidiary of our new parent. Whereas last time, it was a megafirm buying our expertise to augment their existing advisory practices, which inevitably led to clashes with the existing team.

On the news of Musk making people come to the office is now news he’s looking to cut 10% of the Tesla jobs (roughly 10k) because of his “feeling” about the economy.

Long shot take, but not soooo long: He’s looking to make **an unfortunate** labor shortage, blame those who leave, and sell his company’s IP to either GM or Chrysler Fiat so they can catch up to Ford, and then most physical assets to one of the Asian automakers.

It does feel like he is purposefully trying to find a way out. I think the Twitter screw up bruised his ego and now he wants to find a new way to pretend he is God.

Though it feels like Pride is sponsored by Skynet and the SCP Foundation, at least those companies figured out homophobia and transphobia isn't profitable.
