Yeah you absolutely have to know the price history to shop on Black Friday

Yeah. My wife and I stocked up on stuff we'd normally buy anyway,* but were holding off for the discount. I'm liking the whole Black Friday sales starting early thing; makes it easier to shop online though the constant ads in the inbox/on the phone are annoying (which reminds me to turn off Amazon's notifications).

* We both may have had minor mid-life crisis splurges on top of that, but who's counting. Those are basically our holiday spending (or both Xmas and birthday in my case) since we've basically gone to only buying actual Christmas gifts for the kiddo these days minus our Christmas Eve book exchange. And they were still on sale so we still got actual deals.

Speaking of price history. I spent some time last week researching bidet seat attachments (don't judge me). Today when putting together an amazon order for mainly staples that I don't need sales for, out of curiosity I looked up the same bidets. Suddenly the list price was $150-300 more than it was Thursday and the Cyber Monday Amazing Awesome Discount was still higher than the price was last week.

I contributed far more than I should have to the madness, but in my defense we did just finally finish remodeling our kitchen. After all the stress of DIY'ing far too much of the work put our young marriage to the test, we're still riding the pink cloud of our kitchen's new look and making our own food together again after several months of takeout. So that top-of-the-line KitchenAid mixer I've always wanted will see plenty of use and is worth the splurge. The new 65" Samsung TV for the basement family/rec room, OTOH...

That's awesome. I never have gotten the TV or the kitchen I wanted. Maybe for my twilight years which are not far off.

Most beautiful is certainly one way to describe that thief-ridden, pi_ss-and-burnt-rubber-smelling, moving toilet.

like, it's fine as a mass transit system, but beautiful it ain't.

To be fair, he did say “most beautiful.” We’re talking about a low bar, here….

Precisely.

Any subway is going to reflect the Great Unwashed. The measure of beauty is the art, not the cargo.

I came away most impressed by Budapest's. Set up very well to get you everywhere you need to go, if not the most picturesque.

I have heard great things about Budapest in general. Architecture, art, transport, people. Too bad the guy in charge is Paprika Dump.

Orban's government set up a memorial to Hungarians killed by the Nazis, but the opposition put up and keeps up (since it gets torn down regularly) a counter-memorial pointing out how the (also fascist) government of that time was complicit with the Nazis in all of that stuff.

The DoD is going to have to do some hard thinking about how they're going to word their letter to the board of SpaceX telling them it's us or Musk.

He is a national security threat and every DoD-adjacent operation at SpaceX should just be DPAed until he's removed
