AI literally can't cure cancer. All AI can do is regurgitate information it has already been fed. Sure, it may spit out something that looks original, but it is just an amalgamation of everything it has learned. If we already had a cure it could duplicate it.

The bummer is that I no longer live next to a prime target, so I probably will survive the initial attack and either die of cancer from the fallout or freeze to death in nuclear winter. Or get killed by an Arnie clone in the war that follows...

in all fairness, some AI can recognize patterns that humans cant, so there are cases where AI can identify a potential illness before other signs are present, but that's with doctors knowing how to use the tool and not being replaced with the tool. Or that could be dumb luck I suppose, since i don't know how many times it's fucked up

I wonder what companies like LL Bean will do. It has spent heavily to reconfigure the supply chain and almost as much marketing the new specifications to customers as environmentally friendly. I'm guessing it proves too good a marketing tool and remains. Plus it would be expensive to switch back. Other companies might go back to the old paradigm now that the regulations are gone.

This one makes sense. 3M knows the next sane administration is going to undo this and we are going to put in safeguards so a nutbar president and pet rock Congress can never do it again.

My god this ought to inspire a Progressive Era-like revolution to restore legislative power and neuter the executive to a figurehead.

Gregg Roman, executive director of the Middle East forum, told Military.com that the war played in the background as Trump “had to keep his powder dry” during his recent visit to China to meet with counterpart Xi Jinping.

That trip ultimately opened the door to more questions, including about the United States’ defense of Taiwan. But there was a lack of cohesion when it came to Iran.

“Now that ship has sailed,” Roman said. “[Trump] being able to turn back his attention wedged between two other issues—the midterm elections and primary season—right now gives him a window of opportunity, at least politically, to make it palatable to perhaps resume limited strikes after [Tuesday’s] primaries through June.”
“But frankly, no one knows what he's going to do,” Roman added. “One has to assess what he's saying on social media, what his advisors are saying at press conferences, the current force posture of the United States—at least in terms of its maritime blockade or counter blockades to the Strait of Hormuz.”

Asked how long he foresees U.S. military personnel in Iran, Roman said it could last “months, if not years.”
