BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Speaking of caring... Cole Hutson's introverted personality can sometimes give off a "don't give a shit" vibe, but I believe he's always cared. Deeply. Some great quotes from him in his first locker room interview after Capitals practice.

"I really didn't didn't want to leave BU. At all. I loved that place. I love all my teammates. The coaches are the best ever. Sad I had to move on. Now's the right time."

Also, it looks like he can't turn his neck to the left very well. Lingering issues from the shot he took to the back of the head at World Juniors?

Here's the full clip.

I'm not sure how big of a factor it is in all of this but there's no way a kid from Montana cares as much about Alabama Football as a kid from Tuscaloosa. There's no way a kid from Arizona cares as much about Indiana basketball as a kid from Indiana and there's no way a kid from another country cares as much about BU hockey as a kid from Charlestown or Winchester (thinking Spang and Aufiero but there are two more coming from Winchester). Some of the kids from far off have never been to a Beanpot game. Some are already thinking about their next team when they arrive. It may not be much of a factor at the end of the day but I think it's silly to suggest locals don't have the edge in how much they care.

I'll give you Boisvert, given his known and widely rumored conduct in the locker room and off-ice.
Can you, or anyone else, point me in the direction to read about this known and rumored conduct? I haven't been on this message board much at all this season so I may have missed something. I only know he was benched for the 1st round game for apparently being late to practice a few times and then he was back in the lineup for the QF.

To be clear, I am not questioning that or disagreeing. I just haven't been reading enough to have heard anything more and would like to get caught up to speed. Thanks!

Trying to tie together a few topics.

Anybody that has watched as much hockey as the posters in this thread can observe effort, tenacity, dumb penalties, lack of effort, lack of positioning etc. Given the skill set of the players involved and seeing them get humbled by teams well below them, it isn’t out of line to question the level of caring exhibited. Maybe it’s just that some guys didn’t care enough to not get a penalty because they were lazy, out of position or putting their frustration ahead of the team’s welfare.

I take the MA player comment as historically there were players from MA towns and neighborhoods who were the kinds of guys who dug pucks out of corners, got their money’s worth on penalties, never quit etc. You couldn’t have 25 of them on the roster but it was good to have a few guys who played at town rinks and local high schools who were also the best players out of their town so they were not just gritty. Could you find a player like that in Beverly Hills? Sure, but Beverly Mass is more probable.
From the BU website…The 1995 National Championship team, for example, was famously anchored by "blue-collar kids" from towns like
South Boston
Medford
Dorchester
Burlington

I’m starting to think a lot of this is decided by the coaching staff. They planned on these guys leaving, so …. I mean does anyone believe Eiserman or McCarthy are on the island or in Buffalo next season?

Times have changed, I know. But back in my day, you didn’t go unless you were going to play with the big club.

They’ve got guys coming in and those guys likely have expectations about time, which line they are on, PP experience etc…I recall when college players got a COVID year it messed up a lot of freshmen who came in and suddenly had a whole additional layer of players ahead of them. Families of top recruits likely dont want surprises when it comes to where their kid fits on the roster and guys unexpectedly returning for another year would be a bad surprise.

Not yet. Though it seems to be headed that way. One person said the Isles were working on finalizing a contract, Another person said Eiserman hasn't yet decided.
Then someone should tell the Isles social media accounts ‘cause they’re posting it as a done deal.

This is hilarious. If Eiserman is being pushed out of BU to make room for incoming players: a.) you guys are going to be awesome next year, and b.) happy to take his remaining two years of eligibility at BC. Send him down comm ave. The guy is a good hockey player that will likely have a good or better nhl career. Any decision to sign is a joint decision about what’s best for the islanders and Eiserman. Pando is way too smart to push a guy like that out.

where did you see this- I just looked and saw Hagens, Nadeau and Hryckowian
Hagens looks like sure winner

Michael Hrabel looks like the sure winner from where I sit. He carried a team in last place and left for dead in January to second and still fighting for the NCAA’s. There is plenty of precedent for giving the award to a goalie.

Leaman looks like the COY.

We’ll see soon enough.

I'm sure that my info could be slightly off but even with the Hutson, McCarthy, Eiserman (seems likely) departures, there still seems to be a log jam between the returners/newcomers. (not to mention portal additions)

Right off the bat, I would assume the top 3 center positions for next season are spoken for with Lawrence, Malhotra and Shilov certain to go in the first round of the draft. Do some of the returners who got drafted to be centers move to wing? Or would their NHL teams rather them go somewhere else to continue developing as centers?

I don't know that all of those freshmen will enroll this year. Some are super young for their class and may be pushed back a year.

There's also the prospect of players who enter or exit the roster via the portal - which will not formally open until after the national championship game.
