My bad.
Man... Bernie is REALLY happy about his 0.4 win tonight. Not sure he realizes what he's even talking about.
The replay they showed at Agganis sure looked like it was in… and from my seat it sure looked in too. Would like to see a few other replays.Sorry, I did the “stop watching to change their luck” trick and it worked…until I turned it back on to watch the end and OT.
From the rafters that puck didn’t look clearly in but would like to have seen a close up
Defense is a fright with an inability to get out of the zone. Two best defenses I've seen are Michigan S and BC against Minnesota.A great comeback for sure, but LOTS to work on before this is a contender. I mean how many cross ice passes were turned into goals or great scoring opportunities? Just can’t do that as often as we did. Need better vision and anticipation of what the pressure is going to do against you. Play your system. They will get better. These are talented kids. Yes, Celebrini hasn’t played well and Amico looks overmatched at this level right now. Again, it takes time. Most teams we play won’t be quite this good at this point with a goaltender like Augustine. I have hope. Great PK so far this year - that’s a plus.
And yes, an OT win is only marginally better than a tie (0.6 of a win for the winner and 0.4 of a win for the loser for the new NPI system) It just feels a whole lot better to get the W in the record.
They almost seem “overcoached” for where they are at this point in the season if that makes any sense. It looked like they just didn’t know what to do or where to be and were constantly second guessing themselves and making tentative plays. That doesn’t explain the mess that was Celebrini though or Hutson (who looked tired and worn down) halfheartedly trying to skate in 1 v 4.Defense is a fright with an inability to get out of the zone. I re-watched the overhead replay this morning. It was no-goal.Great comeback. Heartbreaking OT. I think they were robbed on that no goal call.
I can accept that; it was awfully close. They dug their own hole. If the last few seasons are any guide, they'll learn from it. The repeated cross-ice giveaways were awful.I re-watched the overhead replay this morning. It was no-goal.
Here’s the full game. The OT overhead shot is at the end.

They have sold SRO tickets for many games. Nothing new there.I did see they were selling standing room tickets. Hadn't seen that happen before.
Jay had Patrice Bergeron come and work on face offs with the boys earlier this year. It’s just a tough skill to posses. Eichel was not good at face offs when he was at BU.I would like to see them take one full day of practice this week and focus on face offs. I know I sound like a broken record but their inability to win the face off to start a power play was glaring last night. Also, they had an offensive zone face off with about 27 seconds to go in the third - they didn’t win that one either. They had all the momentum at that point, anything could have happened. But they weren’t able to gain control, puck went down the ice and they both just ran out the clock.
On a bit of a positive note, I was happy to see, or rather not see, asinine stupid penalties. Especially last night.
As far as the non-goal, it was obviously the jumbotron’s resolution but it really did look like it crossed the line when they showed it. On a smaller, more clear monitor, you can see that it doesn’t. But the fact of the matter is they were too flummoxed by the no goal call to pay attention to MSU’s breakaway. Yegorov stopped a 2 on 0 breakaway right before that but you just knew he wasn’t going to stop that one.
