BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Going to have to clear time to watch that, Rogie. Looks great!

Ryder Ritchie officially announced his commitment to come to BU in the fall with a very high end video. With clips of Drury and Pandolfo. Who produces these for these kids? I love videos like that but

Ritchie--or his agent's team--has really raised the bar with this Instagram commitment video. It ends with Pandolfo raising and kissing the Cup after the Devils won it. Big question: who slots in a left wing with Sascha and Ryder?

Video interviews with Big Mike at Devils camp and Big Simon Wang at Sharks camp.

Saw a reel on Instagram of Cole Eiserman at a training camp. He was wearing #20. I asked on the previous thread but not sure I got an answer and I'm too lazy to go back and look but did Eiserman ever officially state he's coming back? Not that he has to, and I'm assuming since we haven't heard anything about him signing with the Islanders that he will be back.

“His shot is a natural gift,” Bednarik said. “He works really hard on it, so it’s a mix of both. He had that skill since he was a little kid. I see him work in it all the time.”

Not only have they been teammates for years, they’re also roommates and classmates at BU. From notching assists on each other’s goals to presenting in group projects together in class, they’ve built a pretty strong bond. The two will also play their sophomore year at BU.

“I can’t get rid of him.” Bednarik said with a laugh.

Currently, BU leads all D1 teams with 19 NHL draft picks on the current roster. Thirteen in the first 3 rounds: 4 first round, 7 second round and 3 third round.
Pretty sure that adds up to 14 not 13 :)

Reading on several sites that BU has opted out- Does that mean they can not offer 26 scholarships
Hard to believe
Correct, and also cannot offer "revenue sharing" (payments) to players. Reportedly, the Patriot League as a whole decided not to opt in. Since a school's entire athletic department (besides play-ups) has to opt in or out, that effects BU hockey even though they are not in the PL.

Is anyone else concerned about this - at the mercy of the Patriot League? Can BU still pay players directly from the school, or just the nickel and dime NIL deals? I know there is still a draw for top players with regards to the development by our coaching staff and great a great opportunity to win championships, but will we start to lose out on high end recruits to the power conference teams with $$$ to give? We have a few of those teams in HE in BC and Providence. I think we are one of the top teams in the country in revenue for hockey from what I see in some searching. I think we need to use that.

This feels like the beginning of the end unless BU comes up with a plan to address this. Two high-end kids picking between BU vs another school with a similar pedigree that offers them money will take the money. Look at Gavin McKenna to PSU (which is a good program but has a great staff) for example. Despite what his agent says I am sure that $700k for 1 year influenced the decision.
That being said I am sure the hockey program doesn’t draw enough money to pay many big deals so they would have to be very strategic about the use of it.

To answer BU 93 - yes It is a bit concerning, but If this is the direction, no Hockey East, ECAC or any other schools will be able to keep up … maybe BC to a degree but even they won’t be able to match what the Big 10 schools could offer and will fall behind.

With that said, if it becomes routine 700k contracts, I’d say it’s time to drop the facade of these being student athletes and just call it for what it is… a professional sport.

At that point I’d be more likely to just follow the NHL.
