BU at Merrimack 2/3/12

Re: BU at Merrimack 2/3/12

Tonights officials Bunyon, Shea, Bernard and Sullivan, the game will be on wbin according to game notes

Bunyon? Bigos might as well skate directly to the penalty box.

Based on Bunyon's performance last week when we played Maine on Saturday, I'd be surprised if Bigos got more than 2 for giving someone The People's Elbow.

That said, who was the hack at Hockey East that put him on this game, especially after him throwing Parker out of the game on Saturday night? I've never seen an official ref a team directly after throwing that team's coach out of the game.

Re: BU at Merrimack 2/3/12

Hadn't been to Lawler (Volpe) since Amonte and company won 8-0, so I should be grateful for the upgrades, but for BU fans, we had the worst possible seats in the place. Second row of section 6. So way down at one end, on the end BU shot at once (read: very little action in the first period) - those issues I can deal with. But the constant flow of people walking along the "concourse", which of course means they are walking in front of you - very annoying. I don't think I've been to any other college arenas where the walkway is in front of everybody like that.

On the plus side, we did have a great view of the two 2nd period goals (the timing of the passers-by worked out like the machine gun on a Spitfire avoiding the blades of the propeller:)).

Re: BU at Merrimack 2/3/12

I'm watching the FCS replay of the game. My recording started with 3:45 left in the first so obviously it started well before the scheduled time. I read on the live blog last night that people trying to watch this live last night had issues at the start of the game. At what point did coverage actually start?

Rink looks good. Smart move to have the tickets scanned at the door instead of in the lobby so it opens up room in the lobby. It was also nice to sit in a seat. And not have the Terriers have to fight their way through a million little kids to get to the ice. I had a momentary bit of confusion as my seat was section 13 row K and the K of Merrimack painted on the wall was bigger than the 13 and, well, it took me a few minutes to realize that MERRIMACK was painted on that wall. :o

I will say I was surprised at how quickly the Merrimack student section emptied out in the third. That has to be disheartening to the players. While non student BU fans may leave early when a game is out of hand, I never see the BU students bail like that.

ETA: I had read prior to the game that it was supposed to be a White Out night and then I saw the shirts. And they had the UNH game date on them. That seems a little....odd, to have the a White Out promotion for one game but promote the next game on it. Was that planned that way?

That was about when FCS got their technical difficulties sorted out. We were subjected to some strange sports related documentaries in the interim.
