Well, anyone like that one? First Friday win! I hope all those who were able to go went. Only negative was another 5 minute major taken. I didn’t like the start, but we held until we got it going.

Only this team could have a five-goal lead and make me nervous. I didn’t think that hit warranted a five. But that could be my scarlet colored glasses.

That said - w00t! I thought overall they played pretty well. Maybe they were told it was Thursday or something. :) The freshmen all played well. Here’s hoping it continues tomorrow night!

Not counting last weekend teams taking a 5-0 lead in DI men's hockey were 263-0 and had never lost the lead and teams taking a 5 goal lead at any point in a game were 444-0, so a very hard hill to climb. As for you being nervous, it seems that you are a pessimist about BU and always expect the worst. As for the penalty, it was slew-footing which is a major and is also a point of emphasis this season.

Sean

They didn’t announce it as slew footing in the arena. They called it elbowing. And it seems I’m a pessimist? Jeez Sean are you just coming to that conclusion after knowing me for years?

Skoog's "Skoog" goal was #1 on SportsCenter. Apparently, Mark Linehan, on the BU audio feed, "called" Skoog's goal...again.

Greene, Quinn Hutson, Skoog and Brown each had six shots. 5 for Lane.

Actually I did hear it announced as slew footing. I was in the concourse when it was announced so maybe that helped with the audio?? I know the audio is weird when the band plays - you hear the sound coming from the band and then you hear some single instrument sound through the speaker system from the other direction. Very odd.

It looks like UMass is spiraling a bit. The boys need to hold serve at home and get the sweep.

Skoog and Zegras in the same week. It definitely should be called "A BU." Speaking of BU players in the NHL, How about Eichel's vengeance hat trick? : )

Yes, we need to keep the foot on the gas tonight and play under control. It can be the difference between a good semester and a great semester. UMass is down - the worst losing streak since a 6 game slide in 2018. Hopefully the crowd is a good one and everyone gets behind this team.

That’s what I’m talkin’ about! A solid 60 minute effort. I know it’s a little early, but we’re now #1 in the PWR. It speaks to the quality of the opponents we have faced early - and had relatively good success against. Let’s keep this rolling! Another quality opponent next weekend in NU.

Huge win last night. The game was certainly more even territorially than Friday night, but that is why having a good goalie makes a big diffference. With Skoog and O'Brien finally lighting the lamp this weekend, the balanced scoring on this team is going to help it come playoff time.

What makes this even more impressive - BU's strength of schedule, as rated in KRACH, is far and away #1 in the country and it's not remotely close.

1. BU 655.8
2. ND 470.0
3. MI 449.0
4. UMA 404.4
5. DU 373.3

BU has played a ranked team in every game of the season since the Bentley opener, and that'll likely continue for another three games unless Northeastern falls out of the rankings this week.

The other impressive aspect in last night's game was the discipline BU showed in not taking penalties. UMass was desperate to get on the power play (and theirs is very good), and they tried to bait our players into responding to provocations. They got no takers. I watched Skoog shake his head and smirk as he skated away from a slash after the whistle.

The absolute key to success of this team is staying out of the box and playing teams 5v5 where their depth shows. They were averaging almost a period of penalties per game which is unacceptable. Greene did take a dumb penalty but hopefully he learns. Overall, fantastic weekend. There is a massive difference in team structure with Panda at the helm and the results show.

How was the crowd last night? Does this season have juice?

Feels more juiced than the past few years. Maybe just shy of 5K? Beer sales were strong with a healthy UMASS contingent as well.

Student section is OK. Grateful that they have abandoned the "F-You" chants. Still no presence in the 108 end.

"Game presentation" would be helped if the announcer and PA system toned it down and let the band lead the way.

Did Peterson only get 1-2 shifts in the first? I know he's coming back from injury, but just don't know if he was too in pain to keep going, or that's all they wanted to give him.

Panda mentioned that Peterson was sick so I assume that’s why.
