BU: '22-'23 Season: Sail The Boats

I was surprised to see BC skate off at the end of the game and go directly to the locker room without the customary post-game handshake.

Not surprised. There were issues throughout the game with Peterson, O'Brien, Kuntar, Gauthier and others. With the roughing at the end Brown probably figured it best to wait until after tonight's game.

Almost hate to bring it up, but has JD been around here? New username? Just quit the board, maybe? Rarely agree with him, but he is undeniably a big fan of college hockey, if not BU. Appreciated his takes on the current state of BC as well as the college game in general.

From 92-93 through 94-95, a 12 game winning streak. Half those wins came in 92-93, including a BP win and two in the HE quarters.

To expand upon that. BU went 18-1-4 vs BC from the 92'-93' season to 97'-98' season. This included a 13-0-0 stretch from 92'-93' to 94'-95'. Their only loss in that stretch was the final game of the 95'-96' regular season.

92'-93' 6-0-0
93'-94' 3-0-0
94'-95' 4-0-0
95'-96' 2-1-1 (tie came before the 2 wins ending the 13 game win streak)
96'-97' 2-0-2
97'-98' 1-1-1 (loss came after the win and tie)

Yeah noticed that as well he is a huge front runner not a BC grad I think Westfield St. probably found another team to root for. His takes were very biased and not missed by me.

Well that was a perfectly timed post by me. BU scored about a minute after I hit post reply. Heh.

Wasn’t the prettiest win but a win is a win. I hope Comesso is OK. He did look a little off the last few minutes of the game.

Wow...crazy two nights. Just a few comments.

1) I know these guys have incredible talent, but games like this are SO frenetic that you don't have the time and space to make pretty plays. This is where (and I know it's a cliche) you have to just get pucks to the net and get some dirty goals. Commesso basically saved us tonight. BU needs to get rid of the puck quicker. When you hold it too long in a game like this the defender is all over you and there's no time to make the perfect play. I lost count how many times we didn't get it out of our own zone because of waiting a split second too long instead of just getting it out. I also get it that we didn't have Fensore, but you can't hold the puck.

2) What's the deal with Kaplan? How long are they going to put up with his being totally out of control? He's a penalty waiting to happen every game.

3) I don't know how long this "hyper enforcement" of faceoffs experiment is going to last. It has to be like twenty years now. They are NEVER going to get all the players to be stationary. And the longer the linesman holds the puck, the more the players behind him creep in. It's ridiculous. The wingers are two feet from the dot on every faceoff. So then they hold it up, push them back, but they wait twenty more seconds and they're right back in there all over again. DROP THE PUCK. And I know a lot of people are saying "we need to win more faceoffs." I say, "How the h*ll can you win a faceoff when you don't even KNOW when he's going to drop the puck?"

4) I don't want to see this BC team again this year. And I hope they don't make the NCAA tournament, because I can see nightmares from 2006 at the Centrum all over again. I don't care what their record is...they have just as much talent and if they're capitalize on their opportunities better than they did tonight, all bets are off. And their power play is deadly. 6 of 9 is ridiculous. But what's MORE ridiculous is that we GAVE them 9 power plays in two games.

5) There are a lot of upperclassment on this team. I want to see some more leadership. This could be the best BU team since 2009 (and I don't believe that is hyperbole). They can go all the way, but not unless they become more disciplined. I understand that immensely talented players tend to be cocky. It comes with the territory. But as good a job as Pandolfo and the staff have done, at some point the players have to police themselves. It's a litte disappointing that this late into the season they are still this undisciplined.

Not if you are an Eagle fan, Commesso was the difference, BC had the shot and territorial advantage but just couldn't find enough open space to get it past him. I think that got in their head a little bit in the third, they were looking for the perfect play. You are what your record says you are but BC remains a dangerous team. BU is very good and with Commesso on they are very good but I agree they take some bad penalties. Beanpot will show case 4 very talented teams.

Don't care whether they win or lose in Maine as long as they come away with no injuries and maybe give Vinny a start and give Commesso a rest.

BC is very talented and dominated for long stretches of the game last night. BU looked gas. Beanpot is going to be fantastic hockey.

I agree that you are what your record says you are. BC will have their hands full with Harvard!
