Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Well opinions are like you know what...everybody has one...do you watch the games or just read the relentless propaganda?..5 points and a -3 doesn't cut it on this team

And you're quoting plus/minus so we'll just end things there. But at least get it right, he's -1.

Not a good idea to take much from this game considering the bad ice, bad boards/glass, shadows galore, and other game conditions that wouldn't exist in a normal game. These Fenway games are stupid and need to stop. I too hope that now that everyone in HE has participated this will come to an end, considering attendance is dropping. Just over 19K reported, lowest by far for a main event FF doubleheader. They're lucky if there were 10K in the park at once, and it looked awful on TV. End this charade already, it's a shame two Hockey East points are up for grabs under those garbage conditions.

I'm convinced they won't stop until we've had every possible hockey east matchup. Forgot there is another HE doubleheader next week.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Outdoor hockey games and bowl games featuring 6-6 and 5-7 teams both need to go away. Will they, not anytime soon I suspect.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Oh, I almost forgot. Oettinger's best save of the night may have been the one on Dante Fabbro. Boy that would have been embarrassing if it had gone in.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

I wasn't thrilled with the teams' effort, but a win is a win. Especially when you have a novelty game with such different conditions.
- Nice to see JFK staying hot (just missed an empty netter at the end that would have given him two straight hat tricks)
- Too many bad penalties. You can't give the opponent 2 5 on 3's and expect to come with a W too often
- Keller made a poor decision that led to the SHG.
- Nice to see Chabot get one.
- I thought Oettinger played very well. The first goal was soft, but he made some great saves.
- What was Bellows thinking on that play on the PP? He was down low near the corner, had a couple easy pass options, decided to try to pass between a defenders legs (I guess??) and it turns into an easy clear for UMass.

Doug, by my count there were four "in the nations", and two "in the countries."

LOL....you remembered how much I love Tom Caron!

I told my son about it, and we had fun with it.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

A couple of friends and I are looking at tickets for the BC game on Friday. The only reasonably priced ones on StubHub are standing room only. I've been to Agganis a couple times, but haven't done SRO. Has anyone here done that for a game? Is it a decent experience, or should we just pay the extra $20 per ticket on some actual seats?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Ten minutes into the first period they usually let people who have standing room seats go into the bowl to sit. Though I suppose if the ticket holder showed up after that you'd have to move.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

There are currently regular seats being sold on the agganis website so I wouldn't buy SRO.

ETA: I took a look at stubhub after you piqued my interest. There are people on there that think they are going to get over $100 a ticket for this game? Are you sh -- itt - ing me?!

Fortunately we looked at the BU site before pulling the trigger on StubHub and snagged three in section 120. I agree - can't believe there are people who think that kind of market exists for this game! It's not even technically sold out yet!

Thanks for the input. :)

I think I have a better chance of discovering the secrets of black holes than figuring out how Agganis sells tickets. It has been "sold out" for quite some time - no tickets available on the website. Now they are beginning to release random tickets and the whole 107 section (which has almost fully sold out). If past practice applies, they will soon open up 109 and maybe 108.

Those are student sections and the students will not be back in school yet
Supposedly not going to play BC during vacation going forward
Regarding tV- Certainly less games on Television but many more streaming options for free including BU
Tomorrow night PC-Yale is streamed on ESPN3

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

Agganis has just opened up all of 119 if you are looking for tickets.

Technically student sections, but besides 108, I haven't seen students there in years. In any case, students are out and they know students don't need those tickets.

Wish I had waited a day! Got row Q in 120; I assume that's pretty close to the top. Row B in 119 is available right now for the same price.

Unfortunately, unlike previous winter break BC games, there will be nearly zero students on campus so I'd expect 117 and 119 to be open to the public. At least the past few years the game occurred on the weekend everyone started coming back and the dorms were open. Classes don't start until next Thursday so there won't be anyone on campus and the dorms are all likely closed. Shame the premiere home game is scheduled then.

I would postulate that Row Q has a better view than Row B, but that's just me. The seating bowl is fairly steep.

Kelley suspended for a game according to Mike McMahon. Not sure if he's even in your full lineup but he will miss Friday's game. something from the UMass game that went uncalled.
