Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

Re: Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

From a glance at ECAC Tournament History, teams losing the first game in an ECAC best-of-3 are 16-85 in their series.

1995 QF: #4 Colgate defeats #5 Vermont, 2-5, 2-0, 4-1

2004 QF: #1 Colgate defeats #10 St. Lawrence, 1-2, 1-0, 2-1
2004 QF: #9 Clarkson upsets #2 Cornell, 1-5, 5-4, 5-1
2004 QF: #4 Dartmouth defeats #5 RPI, 1-3, 6-0, 1-0
2005 QF: #4 Vermont defeats #5 Dartmouth, 2-3, 3-2 (ot), 2-1
2006 QF: #2 Colgate defeats #10 Quinnipiac, 0-3, 5-3, 4-0
2006 QF: #4 Harvard defeats #5 St. Lawrence, 1-5, 3-2, 8-4
2007 1R: #6 Princeton defeats #11 Brown, 3-4 (ot), 2-1 (ot), 4-3
2008 1R: #8 Colgate defeats #9 St. Lawrence, 2-5, 3-2, 3-1
2008 QF: #8 Colgate upsets #1 Clarkson, 0-1, 4-3, 3-2 (2ot)
2009 QF: #2 Cornell defeats #11 RPI, 0-1, 4-0, 4-3

We don't need to datamine here, we just need to play some good tough hockey. Brown is probably going to lay back and clog the neutral zone. I hope we don't try to go up tempo too much tonight as it ill play into their hands. We need three periods of tough hockey in our end and we need to be responsible in the neutral zone. Do that and we win.

Re: Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

Pirri and O'Grady have dyed their hair. I think that they are the only two. When I wondered in the past about that practice by junior teams in the playoffs, I was told it was to unify the team. Can someone explain how it unifies a team if only two players do it?

Re: Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

Good control in the offensive zone by RPI leads to a Brown penalty.

Re: Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

End of 1 period tied at 1-1. RPI looks pretty much like they did last nght-Brown has had a number of decent chances and we do not seem to be generating much in the way of offensive chances. We had the advantage of 2 power plays and we are still tied. We also seem to be falling down a lot tonight.

Re: Brown @ RPI, Saturday, March 6th

burgie12 just won the intermission ice shuffleboard contest against my handpicked opponent. He initially challenged me, but I declined to embarrass him in front of 1500 people, so I got him a patsy.
