Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

I'm looking at tickets for the BC game. Does anyone know which end BC defends in the 1st & 3rd (section N or T)? Are the lower level seats high enough to see over the glass or am I better off in the upper section? Thank you

If you're a BC fan, you're better off not showing up. :p

Kidding. BC will defend at section N in the first and third. I'll tell you what I posted on the BC thread: you're better off buying GA tickets on the south side of the rink. Since there are no students around, you'll have 1,200 empty seats to choose from, as opposed to what appears to be a very congested (for this game, anyway) north side. This way, you can see if you like the lower level or upper better.

Personally, I'd go top row of the lower- it provides a high enough angle to see everything but you don't have people walking in front of you constantly, as is the problem with upper level sections.

Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

VERY impressive effort tonight. The Lorito-Naclerio-Lappin line was dominant to the point where Denver's commentators couldn't stop talking about them and Brown controlled the entire third period, as well as a couple other stretches of play. Lorito's shootout goal, though it didn't count for anything, was simply fantastic.

Steel looked very good, despite three goals allowed. He had a few excellent saves. Robertson was a real shutdown defenseman tonight, even though he went to the box a couple times.

In a just world, we would have won tonight (outshot them 43-27, including 19-5 in the third). But their goalie was terrific, and we couldn't find a way to grab the lead. Both teams started apprehensively, probably due to rust accumulated over the break, but grew into the game.

There's no reason we shouldn't beat CC tomorrow night. Tonight, we outplayed a significantly better opponent.

Just spoke with a classmate who was at last night's game. He fully agreed with Kdiff's comments. He said however that Kdiff actually understated Lorito's goal - it was one that had almost all of the fans on their feet as it was that great.

It is great when individuals other than those of us who watch Brown week after week make these types of comments about Matt Lorito. We may be getting jaded at how good a hockey player he is. Lorito is also a terrific young man, very humble and very team oriented. He doesn't talk much, but leads by example.

Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

I wasn't able to watch last night's game, as I was busy freezing my butt off at Frozen Fenway.

But what a great confidence boost this weekend will give the team going into the BC game! I don't think any of us expected a 3-point weekend in Colorado when these games were announced last year. I know CC is having a horrible year, but that's the kind of opponent Brown has failed to beat so often in past years- the wounded animal.

2014 is off to a good start!

Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

The BC game should be a good one. Among other things I am looking forward to Lorito v. Gaudreau. Gaudreau showed some great moves on the ice last night but I think Lorito has been just as impressive.

Goalie question - Steele or Marco? I think Steele should get the star based on his performance at Denver.

Needless to say, I am really looking forward to Saturday. Anything new on how many tickets have been sold?

Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

So it may be that the way to watch Brown hockey from thousands of miles away on the internet is to take a zen attitude. It's the beautiful game whether or not we ever go to the post-season.
Thank-you for your patience.

I trust you will be watching the BC/Brown game whether it is ILDN or live at Meehan!!
BTW, I liked your comment about Dennis Mack's line in your prior post. I remember John Rowe Workman saying that Dennis was a player the other teams hated to play against. With his size he did bring some physicality to Brown's games. With him and Leon Bryant's, Terry Chapman's and Bob Gaudreau's finesse, together with Bruce Darling's, Don Eccleson's and Gerry Boyle's toughness those were great games back then.

I don't know a specific number, but I was playing around with the ticket map that shows you which seats have been taken and which are available, and most on the north side (reserved side) of the arena have been sold. I imagine there will be a decent GA walk-up crowd, so we should definitely be looking at a pretty packed place. A lot of the guys on the BC thread are planning on going, and I'm sure there are others as well.

It seems as though Steel will get the start. Whittet trusted him against Denver on Friday, and played Marco against the lesser opponent. In a big game, I believe Whittet has decided to stick with Steel so long as he doesn't mess up (and he hasn't yet).

Re: Brown Hockey 2013-2014 - Climbing to the Top of the ECAC Ladder

Less than 100 reserved tickets remain for the BC game. Depending on the GA sales, this game might sell out. If you were planning on walking up and buying a ticket on game day, I would reconsider.

Update: Brown athletics tweeted a couple hours ago that 300 tickets remain for Saturday's game (including GA). Looks like it'll definitely be a sellout, assuming there will be a walkup crowd.

When was the last time Meehan sold out?

Can't recall that game. What would have been the attraction?

Both teams were nationally ranked, with Brown in the top ten I believe. Yann Danis and Dov Grumet-Morris were the starting goalies, two of the best in the country at the time. This was the peak of Brown's success under Grillo and every league game drew rather big crowds; especially the Ivy games- and extra especially, Harvard and Cornell. I think the Cornell game in 2003 sold out, also.

Brown won in overtime, though I had to leave early and missed both Brown goals. >:(
