Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder

Re: Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder

I'll be watching from home again. I am excited and nervous.

May the Force continue to be with our Bears!

Regret having overlooked you as well as Brunofan in the earlier post as you guys have been great followers of the team and been just as nervous as the others.

This is so sad. Is there any hope we can come back from 3 goals behind?

Great Season Brown - you really gave UNION all it could handle tonight. You are going to be awesome next year.

Re: Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder

Can't win 'em all,

I would like to thank Brendan Whittet and his troops for the most exciting season of Brown hockey I have ever seen. I hope the NCAA selection committee pities us as a host and gives us a spot in the tournament, but there's almost no chance of that.

In any event, the future couldn't be brighter. We'll miss the heck out of the seniors, as they drove this team to this position. But we have plenty to look forward to, including what should be a fun weekend as hosts of the regionals.

I'm glad there were a few dozen more Brown fans in AC tonight. The Union fans were louder and more numerous, but it was nice to see the support for the boys.

Is it November yet?

I have started a Part II of this thread. We are close to the automatic cut-off and we will probably get there in a few minutes.

Exciting! Came up short but congrats to Brendan and the boys! Everyone I ran into today knew about the run Brown was on and was rooting for them to win. I've never heard anything like that before........this should pay some dividends with recruting over the next few years as well!

Re: Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder

As much as I'm very proud of my team, just want to say that Brown earned a ton of my respect tonight. Your team never quit and gave Union everything they could handle. 4 years ago Union made it to their first ECAC championship game and came up a couple goals short to a team that was just a little better and more experienced. If Whittet keeps recruiting talented players and coaching them to play like they did tonight, Brown will be a team to be reckoned with for a long time in the ECAC and the NCAAs. Congratulation on a successful season and a great playoff run.

Question.....saw one of the refs last night was Scott Whiiemore. Back in the day the ECAC did not allow an alum do their school's games, never mind a championship. When and why did they change it?

Thanks for the kind words. Union was, as you said, just a little better and certainly more experienced. Brown came out strong but buckled after the first goal and you could tell you were watching a young team that hadn't made it too far in the playoffs before this year.

Here's hoping we'll still be talking about Brown hockey this time next year.

Re: Brown Hockey 2012-2013:Climbing the ECAC Ladder

I just want to thank all the fans from Union and other schools who have come to this thread with encouraging, complimentary and supportive comments this weekend. We who have endured some very disappointing seasons and a lot of disrespect are beyond thrilled to hear this year's team being acknowledged for its grittiness and can-do spirit, not to mention how far we got in the league championships to almost everyone's amazement. :-)

Thanks for being classy. You are all the true hockey fans and are setting a great example for USCHO commenters.

Looking forward to next fall already!
