Brown Bears 2010 - 2011: Coming of the Second Dawn

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011: Coming of the Second Dawn

Like to second your comments.

It was great to see the Brown squad play inspired hockey this weekend, in front of their fans during "Pink Day" on Friday and "Senior Day" on Saturday. Great crowds on hand for this weekend.

After a slow start against Princeton, they played a great and spirited brand of hockey in the second half of the game against Princeton and for the whole game against Quinnipiac. The players showed a lot of heart, determination and team camaraderie. A few bounces here or there and this weekend could have been two W's.

The team played with a lot of heart and emotion in front of their tender yesterday.

The most poignant part was the ref turning the team away from an impromptu celebration at the end of the first period. While I understand he has to follow protocol, he clearly did not get it.

Most importantly, like to recognize all four seniors for their contributions to the Brown team over their four years. Congratulations to Jenna Dancewicz, Joy Joung, Erica Kromm and Samantha Stortini. You are all winners in my books. Good luck to all four in your future endeavors.

NBB.

BrownNoseBear - These kids have always been winners and always played with a "lot of heart, determination and team camaraderie". What they were missing was leadership and that, my friend, was still absent yesterday. Hopefully next year will bring about the changes the team desperately needs to post more Ws. And speaking of desperate, did you happen to catch Digit's speech? Sounded more like someone on a job interview!!!!

How so very sad that you would attempt to extend your point on the back of freshman parent that was only trying to pay homage to the senior class of a team that has endured so much more undue attention than any of them deserve.

Personally, I feel sorry for the many people that have been effected by this debacle regardless of which side of the ledger they may have been on... but never have I felt more sorry for a individual, than I do for you.

shame, shame, shame...

Fan007, I don't think there is any need to resort to name calling. You have a difference of opinion, and that's fine. By all means, please express it (if you must, ugh!). But if there are freshmen and their parents who wish to be far more optimistic for their future, and appreciative of their opportunities, I think they should be afforded that same right to a difference of opinion without being specifically singled out or heckled.

I've had the good fortune to have met Newbiebear and he's just a glass half full kind of guy wanting the best for his daughter.

By the way, the real 007 would have shown far more class than this.

I have to agree with this. It was senior day and these players did just complete playing four years of hockey for Digit Murphy. They deserve the utmost respect just for not quitting and even more for everything they’ve accomplished while being there.

So even though I think NBB’s stance against anything critical being expressed and whatever reasoning they had for locking that last Brown thread was real sketchy, their last post was a good post. And it’d be hard to disagree with what NBB said.

On the other hand, I do get Fan007’s frustration. It’s starting to seem bizarre if Digit doesn’t resign or she doesn’t get fired. I don’t know if the AD is waiting for every single player on the team to quit or for the team to become completely uncompetitive against all other d1 teams before deciding a coaching change it necessary.

But who knows. Digit does somehow have the support of some people on this forum, so maybe she’s working that same kind of magic with the AD. It’s annoying that next year she’ll most likely return yet again, when there’s not a single reason why she should.

Hcky85 are you saying that two wins over the last two years is not a good enough reason for her to return????????

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011: Coming of the Second Dawn

As impressive as not getting a goose egg in the win column for two straight years may be, it seems like she’s really flirting with the line… so I don’t know if I can even count that.

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011: Coming of the Second Dawn

I hear that there's more happening in the Brown off-season than there was during the school year. Anyone know the details? Seems like Digit's got her hands full now. Hux? Care to respond?

I'm hearing lots of rumors too....hard to tell fact from fiction though. There is lots of buzz, but whether any real changes will occur remains to be seen.

I heard some of the players have gotten the ear of the administration so it remains to be seen if that's all they got.

Renewed contract or not, don't expect Coach Murphy to go quietly into the night. ;)

Hey Ice, Was that you and Hux in Maine yesterday unveiling your 1,067 pound whoopie pie? That was great of you to take time out of your day to offer your $.02 worth on this board. Much obliged.

Hey Irish, What have you been hearing? I think Digit could've coached her last game at Brown. Not a good way to go out, considering how she came up.

I think you need to re-read that book. Things did not go particularly well for the vast majority of the mutineers.
