Brown at RPI 2/10/23

it wouldn't be an rpi hockey season without getting boned by the refs at least once

The refs let everything go on both sides. I just didn't like the fact that they even let penalties go that interrupted good scoring opportunities.
We were playing against a goalie that had two starts and let in six goals in both of those games.
I can't even remember one save where I thought that he robbed us.

Yes, this was a chance to put some pucks in the net but Brown D allowed very few grade-A opportunities. The PP (the one opportunity) had good sustained offensive zone time but they could not cash in. Overall it seemed like there were a lot of passes that didn't connect and defensively, as Smith mentioned post-game, they gave Brown time and space in front of Watson. The team looked out of sync much of the night. Brown played like they wanted it more.

Edit: meant to mention Brown has been a tough out at HFH in recent years. They are 5-4-1 in last 10 in our building, by my count.

I'm talking about Schreifels getting tripped into their goalie but yet it's his fault somehow and the goal gets taken off.
But when their guy falls on his own accord and pushes Watson's pad with the puck into the net that's apparently a good goal.

Yes, they let everything go, which negated our special teams advantage. With how good our power play is, that didn't affect both teams equally.

That goalie is totally garbage, I lost count of how many terrible rebounds he gave up that we did nothing with. That part is obviously on us and not the refs but adds to the frustration.

I disagree that Brown wanted it more. They got two fluky goals off of skates, one of which should have been taken back. We would have scored 6 just like Clarkson and SLU if we had simply hit the net on a few shots due to their goalie overplaying and pounced on even a fraction of the juicy rebounds. One of the most annoying games of the year in my opinion

I agree. RPI played hard and controlled play throughout the majority of the game, but didn't cash in on a SOG advantage. Two of the Brown goals were bad luck.
