Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

FireKnight

Let's go Tech!
Play underway in Potsdam. Fast-moving first period so far. The Knights' top lines are creating strong pressure but Brown has created a few chances as well.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

First Penalty of the game at 10:27. Browns' Connors 2 minutes for either body-checking or elbowing.

Shots are 6-2 in favor of CCT.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Brown kills the penalty. 2 shots in the first minute. 0 in the second minute.

Power play now upcoming for Brown. I don't know who as my video feed has kicked the bucket

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Clarkson minor penalty was on Schroeder. Penalty killed off without a shot for Brown.

3 minutes left to play in the opening period. No score. Both teams 0-1 on the power play.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

End of 1 period in Potsdam and it's still scoreless. Brown will have a :14 power play to start the second but they have yet to register a shot on the power play. Clarkson holds a 8-2 SOG advantage.

The story of the first period would have to be Brown's freshman goaltender Katie Jamieson. She looks very strong between the pipes, robbing Clarkson on 2 good scoring chances and generally controlling play in her zone.

To this point Brown seems content to dump and chase into the offensive zone which hasn't created many offensive chances. Defensively, Brown has not been challenging the Knights' through the neutral zone, preferring to trap at the blue line. While the Knights have been able to break the trap and enter the zone, they haven't created a lot of scoring opportunities on the rush.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Second period underway at Cheel Arena. Brown fails to convert on the power play, making them 0 for 2 on the advantage.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

At 3:32, Brown penalty to Samantha Stortini, for something yet unannounced. The Knights are 0 for 1 on the PP.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Knights register 4 shots on the power play but the best penalty killer continues to be Jamieson in goal. Knights are now 0 for 2 with the advantage.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

At 8:34, Clarkson penalty to Baribeau, 2 minutes for tripping. The penalty comes at the end of a 2 minute period when the Bears completely controlled play but failed to register a SOG.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Brown fails to mount anything on the power play. Bears now 0 for 3 and still have not registered a shot on goal. Clarkson had 1 SOG on the PK.

Brown penalty to Nicole Brown just after the Clarkson penalty ends, 2 minutes for tripping.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Clarkson registers (by my count) 6 SOG on the combined power play and 5x3 but cannot find the net. Clarkson now 0 for 4 on the power play.

7 minutes to go in the second. Still scoreless.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Shots 17-4....

So Browns recent success is not secondary to their new highly touted staff () but rather to their new lil netminder eh? makes way more sense now.

Come on Clarkson, CONVERT!

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

End of 2 in Potsdam. Still scoreless

Shots on Goal: Clarkson 18, Brown 4

18 is a conservative number for CCT too. It seems they didn't register any of the second chances that Clarkson had on the 5x3 (unless they are correct and the second chances actually missed the puck, kind of hard to tell on b2).

Power play: Brown 0 for 3, Clarkson 0 for 4

Brown played a bit more offense in the second period but hasn't been able to convert the chances on net. They seem to have abandoned the dump and chase and are skating the puck across the blue line. They had one good sustained offensive spurt that lasted almost 2 minutes and resulted in a CCT penalty, but they only got one shot on goal.

Re: Brown @ #3 CCT (10/30)

Wisco spanked the Rodents (kidding gopher fans!). If Duluth can manage to get one from the Lakers and Clarkson figures out a way to put the biscuit in the basket here, the Knights could potentially see a #1 ranking...

However, that would jinx us. just like this post will Jinx everything. :(

the Brown goalie is playing great.
Clarkson had some good scoring chance, just couldn't get the puck to bounce their way. Clarkso pretty much controlled everything about the 2nd period. #16,Tendler held the puck in for about 30 sec, with three Brown players on her. Had the crowd cheering her on. Go Knights

Tendler had a great penalty kill. She shut down 30 seconds of power play time pretty much on her own and Brown never got anything going after that. That was a huge momentum shift after the previous shift where the Knights were pinned in their zone for at least a minute, eventually taking a penalty.
