Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

CNN reporting J.D. Salinger has passed away at his home in New Hampshire.

Perhaps the strangest classic American author.

I'm still not sure what a bananafish was supposed to be, why Seymour Glass killed himself, and whether or not Teddy actually did predict his own death.

Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

"All morons hate it when you call them a moron."

~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 6

"I was half in love with her by the time we sat down. That's the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they're not much to look at, or even if they're sort of stupid, you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can." ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 10

"Goddam money. It always ends up making you blue as hell." ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 15

"Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody." ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 26

She was hysterical in Sixteen Candles.

RE: JD Salinger...I read Catcher in the Rye but didn't get it. I was left rather stunned by it, wondering, "What just happened?"

Chicks never get CITR. I don't understand why.

I wonder if this clears the way for a movie eventually.

Re: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD (Part Whatever)

It's possible you're thinking of his brother Jerry (one of Vince McMahon's "stooges" along with Pat Patterson)...he's still alive.

Nope. I know some history. Discovered Hulk and was a "real" wrestler. But I know you knew that.

Yup. Jack and Jerry both went to Oklahoma State as amateur wrestlers. Jack was also the first Native American to win the NCAA wrestling title back in 1965. He had open-heart surgery about 3 weeks ago and died of complications Monday.

Jane Jarvis, queen of the Thomas organ at Shea in the 60's and 70's, and one of the endearing memories of my youth. :(
