Bracketology and the PairWise Rankings II

Re: Bracketology and the PairWise Rankings II

I was just looking at different scenarios and a #1 Denver seems bound for either Worcester or Albany, unless Cornell ends up in the #6 position and BC is a #1 seed. If those two things happen, BC is #1 in Worcester, Wisconsin #1 in Albany and Denver #1 in St. Paul.

hmmm. Interesting. Thanks for your effort! You rock!

Re: Bracketology and the PairWise Rankings II

I was doing some playing last night, from a Cornell-centric point of view. Although there are possibilites I missed, my conclusions are:

Denver is #1, Miami is #2. I couldn't find any combinations to change that.
As stated by others, NoDak, SCSU, BC, and Wisco, will be 3 through 6. Any one of them can finish in any one of those four slots.

Cornell is still a bit volatile because our game with Union will be our 10th TUC game. If we win it, we win the PWR comparison with a bunch of schools below us (like UVM, UNH, UMass, and others). If we lose to Union, we lose those comparisons and drop a few slots.

If Cornell beats Union, Cornell will end up #7. We beat Bemidji and Yale on RPI, and win all those TUC comparisons with Hockey East. I couldn't find a combination which put us at any other position with a win. That means we end up in Ft. Wayne with Miami (unless the committee puts us east to help attendance, which I'm not really counting on). Ferris, Bemidji, Yale, NMU, and UNH, are fighting for 8 through 12.

If Cornell loses to Union, Bemidji is #7. Most likely Cornell will end up #10 if Ferris loses, #11 if Ferris wins. There is one scenario where Cornell ends up #12, but it requires a whole bunch of stars to align, including RIT losing in AHA.

well this is what is needed for UNH to get in ,

either a Ferris loss , mich loss , or RIT loss and there in , but wait there is more , if none of that happens which could be the case ,( Mich is red hot , miami has nothing to play for , and RIT is a better team) if St cloud beats North D , than there in . But in the consolation game between denver and wis, denver needs to win . thats it in nutshell.

Miami is still playing for the #1 overall seed. Plus, Rico Suave didn't look too happy last night...if I played for him, I'd want to get on his good side tonight.

Re: Bracketology and the PairWise Rankings II

If Sacred Heart wins the AHA, UMass is a TUC.
If RIT wins the AHA they are a TUC.

As far as I can tell the ECAC third place game and both WCHA games are irrelevant to the bubble. Those results should be interchangeable.

If all higher seeds win, UMD is the only one out.
If all higher seeds win except Sacred Heart, UMD is in and UVM is out.
If all higher seeds win except Maine wins OR Union wins, UMD and UVM are out.
If all higher seeds win except Michigan wins, UMD and Ferris are out.
If all higher seeds win except in the CCHA, UMD and UNH are out.
If all higher seeds win except Maine and Michigan, UMD and Ferris are out.
If all higher seeds win except Maine OR Union, Michigan and Ferris, UMD, UNH and UVM are out.
If all higher seeds win except Michigan and Union, UMD, Ferris and UVM are out.
If all higher seeds win except Michigan and Union and Ferris, then UMD, UVM and UNH are out.
If all lower seeds win, then UMD, UVM, UNH and Alaska are all out.
If all lower seeds win except Miami, UMD, UVM and Alaska are out.

I think that covers it.

False. RIT can still be a TUC (and UMass not a TUC) if they lose.

Try this.

* Hockey East Championship game: Maine defeats Boston College.
* ECAC Championship game: Cornell defeats Union.
* ECAC Consolation game: St. Lawrence defeats Brown.
* Atlantic Hockey Championship game: Sacred Heart defeats RIT.
* CCHA Championship game: Northern Michigan defeats Michigan.
* CCHA Consolation game: Miami defeats Ferris State.
* WCHA Championship game: St. Cloud State defeats North Dakota.
* WCHA Consolation game: Denver defeats Wisconsin.

So much for "thirst for accuracy." I'm usually right with ya on what you say Puck Swami but not this time. This isn't the first time I've had to correct Mr. Attention Lover.

Kudos priceless

so...

so...

Alaska Nanooks need Cornell and Boston College to win...a Michigan loss would be nice, but neccesary??? And Ferris needs a third place win against Miami????

Priceless u ever sleep????:)

more nooks

more nooks

Should have said Cornell and BC wins and AK looking good......Michigan shouldnt matter...except if they lose they are OUT

and Ferris chances, not affecting AK, but they may need a "w" to get in or their season could be done..

I'll sleep when I'm dead :p

Alaska gets in if there isn't a sweep by Maine, Union and Michigan. All 3 have to win to knock Alaska out. If 2 of those 3 win, Alaska still makes it.
