Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Niagara will be playing AIC in the 1st round of the AHC playoffs. Someone will have to win.

But as long as the winner loses in the next round they are still eligible (depending on how much winning hurts them in the SHOTS).

That was my point. One can win their way out of the tournament - especially with a sweep.

In my at home bracket, I have UAA going South, RPI going West, Sparty to the Midwest, and Miami going East. Sparty going to Bad Axe is a problem. Flipping Sparty and Miami won't help.

If current scores hold, Sacred Heart and Robert Morris are out and replaced by Bentley and RIT.

I'll make sense of it in the morning.

Here we go:

1. Anchorage
2. RPI
3. SLU
4. Miami
5. New Hampshire
6. Niagara
7. Sparty
8. Bentley
9. Arizona State
10. Lake State
11. Wisconsin
12. Western Michigan
13. Brown
14. Vermont
15. RIT
16. UA blank

RIT and Bentley had their destiny in their hands and lost. And I went to RIT thread. Very little optimism there.

If Miami or WMU can pull off the upset, who are the next two to take their place?

Losing at home to the last place team in the conference in the playoffs 2 years in a row will do that to our fickle fans. Never mind that the two years before that were capped with NCAA appearances and a win.

It's hard to imagine that a team that tied Northeastern and shutout Providence could go 2-5-1 in the regular season against the bottom 4 teams in Atlantic Hockey and then lose a series in 3 games against the last place team.

Bentley also had a decent OOC record, going 3-2-1, but went 2-3 in their last five regular season games, sending them on the road to RMU to lose two of three.

Re: Bottom Feeders 2017-18

Do they need to win the series or will 1 win be enough?

My understanding of the rules - such as they are - is that making the semi-final of your league final disqualifies you from the BF tourney. So I think they have to win the series.

Winning 1 game might move you down a bit, and since WMU is already #13, that might be enough.

Western is #12. Winning one could bump them. Miami is #4, so they'd have to sweep to be removed.
