Boston University vs Maine HEA Semifinals

Re: Boston University vs Maine HEA Semifinals

I really think that the NCAA needs to address one of the biggest plagues in sports.

I'm talking about mascots without pants. Seriously. It needs to stop.

Friday nights referees: Tim Benedetto (15) & John Gravallese (#5) Linesmen: Chris Aughe (#36) & Bob Bernard (#42)

Just noticed this is the exact same crew that worked last years BU BC semifinal.

Re: Boston University vs Maine HEA Semifinals

how can Mainers possibly put down a school that can successfully extract $50,000 a year from "students" who attend remedial English classes in the College of General Studies? All the while convincing wealthy parents that their kids are getting a private school/BU education?

In Maine, we call those schools junior/community colleges and nobody in Maine is "smart enough" to apply to a $50,000 a year community college.
Nobody in Maine is smart enough to hold gainful employment long enough and put together $50K in a lifetime.

And hey - I make no apologies for CGS. But in case you haven't noticed, BU is comprised of another 17 colleges/programs, nearly all of which are considered leaders in their fields.

On the other hand, University of Maine will qualify its attendees to go work in a field.

Well Maine fans don't have an early or a late. They drink all day and all night, just to forget they're in Maine.

hahahaha, you think I pay $50,000 to go to college.

" * Full-time freshman enrollment: 4,130
* Number who applied for need-based aid: 2,497
* Number who were judged to have need: 2,065
* Number who were offered aid: 2,063
* Number who had full need met: 1,171

* Average percent of need met: 91%
* Average financial aid package: $35,431

* Average need-based loan: $6,331
* Average need-based scholarship or grant award: $24,183
* Average non-need based aid: $18,862"

So basically if you were smart enough to get into BU you wouldn't have to go to Maine anyway.

I hate to get into this but i feel i should say something. i'm from mass. and was accepted to both BU and Maine. In the end BU was too much money for me even though they did do a good job with aid, plus i wasn't a huge fan of the urban campus. Obviously BU is a terrific school and for anyone to suggest that Maine is better is absurd, however its not for everyone, even if you are smart enough to get in.

oh yeah and.... GO BLUE!!!

Clearly you prefer being in a remote location which is perfect for serial killers in horror movies.

That's well enough.. I just think he should know that not everybody is paying full tuition at BU, and that most people that need money in order to attend are getting it. This is true at most schools people think of as "rich people" schools, even the University of Spoiled Children and Newton College... I didn't say he would have gone to BU if he'd gotten in, I just said that there was a good chance that if he had gotten in he could have gone.

Bingo. BU is not a school for everyone. It's big, it's urban, and it can be very overwhelming to some prospective students. Let's end this stupid discussion, this isnt' a BU-Northeastern thread.
