Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

and mookie wants halley berry knocking on his door right about now..... :p

Well this is new. Halle Berry? Really?

So, is there anything that could happen this weekend that will change BU's seeding in a dramatic way? I feel like that whatever happens, BU will be either 8 or 9, and pretty much a lock for the St. Paul regional. If that's the case, then I can remain blissfully unaware of all games.

I believe is all the bizarre things happen (won't), we can drop to 11th overall, but no further.

(Thanks Q)

A PC win over Lowell tonight will flip BU to 8th. I strongly believe if BU is 8th at the conclusion of Saturday's games, we'll most likely end up in Worcester (or possibly Albany) with Yale as 1st round opponent. If BU is 9th or lower, I think it's most likely St. Paul w/ a likely 1st round matchup vs. Denver, or possibly Cincy vs. Michigan.

Won't go to Cincy. 2/3 first round matchup to avoid with ND. ND would go there especially if they can have a Michigan/ND first round. Attendance, plus huge rivalry there.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

IIRC, we cannot drop below 9 and could theoretically end up as high as 6.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

After last night's 2 games both Jim Dahl and CHN now have BU a 7-9 seed.

I also found a NCAA Hockey Tournament Seedings Probabilities page at PlayoffStatus.com which shows completely different probabilities and seedings for BU.

Sean

I've followed playoffstatus.com for a while, they've tended to not be 100% correct in how the PWR works. Nonetheless, Dahl clearly knows exactly what he's doing and is the best authority on the math.

Agreed, it is highly likely that two HE teams will finish as 2 seeds (BC or PC will be one of them, and UML or BU will be the other), and two ECAC teams (Harvard and Yale) will end up as 3 seeds. Based on the committee's preference to boost attendance and limit travel recently I would be surprised if these two 2v3 matchups are not in the two eastern regionals. Therefore if BU finishes 7th or 8th I'd expect them to stay east. However, if they finish 9th they'd probably go west.

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

I don't know if anyone was watching the UML-PC game, but I have absolutely no idea how that's a good goal. Not only did it count but they overturned a no goal call on the ice. What do you have to do for it not to count? Would he have to tee it up and take a running start like he was kicking a field goal?

Also whoever the commentator was gave no explanation as to why he thought it should count beyond "it's too hard to score goals already...I like seeing goals."

Don't know, but it's very, very likely that call sends us out west to play either Denver or Michigan.

So, thanks to reading that a Providence win would keep BU in Worcester or Albany, I then realized I had a rooting interest. Which naturally let me down. And not only let me down, the game had to end on a kicked in goal. The only good thing that should come out of this is that UML fans now are not allowed to ***** about 2009 because Providence fans have it ALL OVER THEM now.

Honestly they probably gave it away. 3rd OT game nonsense

Yes he did. He said that he "turned his skate but made no distinct kicking MOTION toward the net."

Re: Boston University 2015-16 thread part 3 - The Postseason

So, BU scores 3 goals in 2 games @ND, NU pumps home 9 goals in 2 games at ND.

BC with a shutout of BU in BP Final, NU hits the net 5 times last night.

BU scores 2 goals last weekend at UML. Gotta love NU tonight (from a betting perspective.)

so you agree with me then?;) it's like the Pat's getting their revenge vs Raiders for 1976 in the tuck rule game. Dont have to listen to Pats fans whine about that any more which they did for a quarter of a century until the biggest gift (or gaffe) in the history of sports

We whined about it because it was true. Ben Dreith basically admitted years later that it was a "homer" call. Hamilton's momentum takes him into Stabler as he's falling and they call roughing the passer, essentially giving them the game. And don't forget on the drive before that, Russ Francis was about to catch a fourth down pass deep in Raider's territory that would have iced the game. Phil Villipiano grabbed BOTH of his arms and the ball bounced harmlessly off Francis's chest. NO CALL. So, see? There...we're still whining and you still have to listen. :)

UML had 5 shots on goal in the 1st period (and I know it was like 2 with a couple of minutes to play in that period), 10 in the 2nd and 5 in the 3rd. They scored one goal in what basically amounted to two games (and I'm not revisiting the controversy, but regardless of whether you think it was a good goal or not, it wasn't exactly due to high skill). They scored 4 goals in the last period and a half again us and pumped 32 shots on net (and that was just the 2nd night). What a high-scoring juggernaut!!!

No cause for concern, though. The situation is not as dire as I made it out to be. BU is fine...we're going to go to St. Paul and win 12-0....
