Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

That may be, but again, that would require us to believe Coyle lied directly to the Freep reporter. Not impossible, but do you believe the source who has spoken to the player in question, or the source who has a source who says he has knowledge about the player in question's decision? I guess what I'm saying is, in order for us to believe this story, we're going to need more than just the title of a guy who's provided you great content in the past, if you're going to refute the words directly from the player's mouth.

Don't need to convince you, not my team and not a huge concern to me. Telling you what I have heard from someone unrelated to hokydad or that blog who has in the past provided great info. Take it FWIW.

I don't not believe you, in fact, I'd take your word more than that blog kid, I'm just saying, look at the two sides, and see where we're coming from that an inside source is a bit lacking up against the word of the guy himself. Could be, there seems to be more than enough smoke here for there to be fire. I can only hope it's not the case.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

Not that I put any stock in the relatively anonymous blog that spends the bulk of the day debating quackquack on whether or not bc or bu has better players, hokydad also grumbled a bit on the topic back at 1 o clock. His track record has been much better

Could be where hokydad got it.

What makes you think that Jofa? Wouldn't he have more opportunities to shine now that he would arguably be the #1 center? Does the QMJHL really offer that much more?

it offers 80 games in a pro style league. Hockey East is a bowling alley where the Q and O play a skilled pro type game.

Agreed, and that is where my concern is.

Did you post after you saw that tweet? Cuz I thought you were just trying to stir things up because Hokydad had "these things come in threes" in his post and you took that to mean Coyle. Was wondering if the tweet happened after seeing your post.

I saw the bc blog tweet but didn't really care until Mav emailed me a reference to an unnamed bu player leaving the team on an eagleaction thread. I figured I'd connect the dots on my own and take it to Hoky. Who posted his comment at the exact same time. I didn't see his come in threes until after my question.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

of course he can play in WJC if he leaves, think Bourque... On that subject, hmmmmm

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

You are absolutely correct. A test for leadership. Military units who suffer losses have to soldier on and in some cases they regruop and are successful and in others they spiral downward. This will certainly be a test for Chris Connolly and the guys with the "A".

IIRC University of Arkansas FB team suspended 3 starting players at end of the 1977 season for, if I am not mistaken similar allegations. One was an All American Lineman and the other was a 1000 yeard rusher (Ben Cowins). They were headed to the ORange Bowl to play Oklahoma who was #2 ranked.

Lou Holtz went to one of the early press conferences and was asked how the team would do in the absence of the 3 players. He commented to the effect that we are focusing on who is here not those who aren't. Backup runnig back Roland Slaes rushed for a then OB record and the Hogs whipped OU 31-6 Jnauary 1, 1978.

There's the model. Move ahead and focus on who's here and hope that one or more individuals can seize the moment and step up.

I suppose, but if the opportunity presents itself now, wouldn't it still be there after the season? I personally just don't see the sense in leaving midway through a season.

Completely see where you're coming from.

I've never seen the blog, all I know about it is it has been the 1st to report who is between the pipes for usand every instance it's been posted on EA/BUSCHO it has been right. But beyond that no clue about the blog.

I'll add that a "source" of mine also spoke with Charlie at some point today after this came out, and he told that person he was not leaving. When asked just now about the story of him going to Canada the person hadn't heard of it and said it would only be true if Charlie lied straight to them. Take that for what it's worth. And for the record, I'm not just making this up sarcastically.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

Any chance Trivino's situation carries over to other players either by frustration their #1 center is gone, anger in how the school handled it or because they may have been with him during the drinking and been on their own 'secret probation' with JP?

Those are a few things that could cause somebody to seek the door quickly

Or, reading between the lines below, if Coyle hadn't done his work this semester or just failed an exam and is about to get some bad news regarding grades and eligibility...maybe he jumps before he gets pushed

There's an awful lot of credibility on the line here...

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

holy sources...does everybody on here have an "inside source"?

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread Part Deux

I just asked my 14 year old cousin to start a blog, and he did. His blog is reporting BU no longer has an athletic department. Seems as credible as the BC blog. He said he had 49.3 sources for that report.
