Boston College @ Minnesota 10/25/13

Re: Boston College @ Minnesota 10/25/13

Same, after you guys scored 3 straight goals I was happy they didn't fall apart.

We are young this year as well, different team than last year. They had a stat up earlier that had you guys us and Michigan I believe as the 3 youngest teams in the NCAA.

This stat got me wondering where UND fits in as they too, are a young team. I guess it really depends on how you classify young though. If you look at it in terms of age, then it is BC with an average age of 19.67 yrs old. Then Mich at 20.18 yrs old, with MN rounding out at 20.32 yrs old. Of course we know that UND recruits 25yr old Canadians, so they felt it wasn't necessary to list the players DOB's on the school website.

However, if we look at academic school yr averages (Fr, So, Jr, Sr), we see that BC still is the lowest, then UND, then Mich, with MN having the "more experienced" players. Of course this is a skewed stat because these are all rostered players, not necessarily those who actually play.

Another thing I found when looking these up were the number of rostered players per team. MN has the fewest at 25, then UND with 26, followed by BC at 27, then Mich topping out at 28. 3 players is actually a big difference. Thats a whole set of extra forwards that could play compared to MN. Of course there is the number that you can dress, but if one guy is a little tired or banged up, that gives quite a bit of leeway for spares. Not knocking Mich, but this goes to show that more is not always better -- you're welcome MN fans :D

Thanks to College Hockey News, got my UND age: 20.70. I know the age has come down some since I used to go there, but thats closer to these "young" teams than I thought it would be.
