Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

This will be the fourth year in a row BC doesn't win the Hockey East Championship, I believe this is their longest drought in some time. In fact, they haven't won any late season trophies since 2012. The talent is certainly there and their legendary leader is still there, but fact is, two missing pieces to the puzzle departed in 2013. Coach Logue and Coach Cav brought a different level of pride, passion and a sense of family to the program that appears to be missing, or atleast severely diluted. These young men, who have their sights set on the next level, need to learn and feel what it's like to play for something bigger than themselves. Until college it's been select teams and junior teams, all loaded with "me" first attitudes. To play for BC used to be selfless, I don't get that same feel. Judging by results and their immature actions, these kids are missing something. Coaches and successful leaders demonstrate behaviors that are contagious. My take is that Coach Logue and Coach Cav not only preached it, but lived it and it reasonated with players.

Agree or disagree, BC hasn't seen a championship in while and they are the missing links.

Hoping they prove me wrong in the NCAA, but can't help thinking about it.

spot on

Good news is you can always look at examples like yale and providence. You don't necessarily have to be playing well to win it. But, if they weren't able to get their **** together after last weekend i can't say i am all that optimistic. We'll see. They CAN play a lot better. Not sure if they will.

me either, sure doesnt seem like it. didnt we used to always peak going into the post season? it's been a while since that and Elbowing's post hit the nail on the head in my opinion, kinda like the elephant in the room

Really hope we can make the post season.. .

i think we all do here, good luck tonight.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Could certainly be missing "something" without Cav but i really don't think it's a pride issue or guys being focused on the next level.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Since I said that this team is one of the best Eagle teams I have seen over the years, I'm going to have to have to eat crow now. Things haven't gone so well for the Eagles since those remarks. A season finale loss to Lowell, barely escaping the quarter finals against VT and a semifinal loss to NU. :(

The great BC teams of yesteryear had one thing in common. Their game rose to another level in trophy season. The 2015-2016 Eagles are struggling right now with the basic concepts of the game, when it matters most. Dang.

It's not over yet. They'll get a second chance. Team D and goaltending win championships. Go Eagles.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Was it just me or did I hear on the NESN (+) broadcast someone on at least two occasions incorrectly indicated that Wood was on the All-Rookie team? You got two on there, as did BU, but Miles wasn't one of them.

Good luck in the NCAA's (unless you lay BU of course).

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

A friend of mine would like to bring his sons to the game tonight be he's short on cash. Not trying to be a smart *** but I'm hoping there might be some BC fans who would be willing to part with their tix? Send me a text 9*7*8*8*6*6*8793

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Have no fear eagle fans Jerry and Joey B will be working together all summer to figure out how to get BC back in the finals next year.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

As a fan of the game, nice that all these games are staggered by a half hour

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

our bracket ( from Moy's article) is rough but the bracket of death is the one with NU in it with Sioux, Michigan and Irish, oy. two of the best teams in the country, the hottest team in the country and a darn good one that no one ever wants to play

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I hope Moy is right (he usually is). Not the easiest bracket, but the easiest ride by far, and Worcester has historically been very good to BC.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

At this point i am just happy this team gets to play again. Even if it was on mars. Don't want them going out playing like they have recently.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

BC could easily lose to harvard but noticed the regional final is set for 9 pm saturday night. I give up trying to figure these decisions out.

What do you mean? The fact that the East game is later than the MidWest game? I think the reasoning is it is easier for us to get to these games (I mean, are there more than 5% of fans of any of these teams more than an hour away from Worcester?). I know..you'll say "but they're already there" - but some fans can't go to both so they wait to see if their team makes the final first - in that regard, it takes longer to travel anywhere out West due to geographical challenges. Additionally, it is very congested in New England so it's often tougher to get to an "early" game. No matter how they decide it, you can't please everyone. Also, you have the "Easter" problem - many on this board have already expressed that there is no way they can attend on Sunday.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I know it's built around a TV schedule but 9 pm day before easter is a recipe for disaster even if it's PC against BC.

it sucks but it's better than at anytime on Easter Sunday. They worry about attendance then they start this game at 9 and i get the TV thing but who is going to watch this game outside of New England anyway? and even then, with March Madness on, the ratings will be so low that they wont even register a number , even in the Boston area

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Exactly. It's built around TV, but as you point out...why exactly? Don't get me wrong, I love the TV coverage it gets but at the same time, it's a contributing factor to poor attendance. If you have a kid, chances are you aren't bringing them to a 9 PM game night before Easter especially at the ridiculous prices. Oh well. It's nothing new.

Anyway, Friday should be a good day. Planning on getting down to Worcester around 2:15 and find a place to watch NU-UND. Head into arena once that one ends. In that regard, I like BC being in the 2nd game.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

seriously who the f thinks of these things?

Someone with no sense of timezones or the holiday calendar? Bad enough two regions have to play games on Easter Sunday but to have a game start at 9:00 on the east coast the night before is just plain wrong.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Last year there was a Saturday regional final at 9PM EDT, but it was in Fargo.
