Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

BC is the NE Pats of Hockey East.
No one likes the Eagles . . . fans, refs, league office, commissioner. That's just the way it is. Commish will prolly have JY in court some day for deflating hockey pucks. ;)
Rumor has it that Jackie Parker will win his umpteenth Coach of the Year Award this season. :p
It's all good. :)
Like the Pats, the fans have a persecution complex.

:D

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Santini wins best defensive dman with McCoshen runner up. Not a bad duo. White and Fitzgerald make all rookie team.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

cant underestimate Casey Fitz's impact on this team

I've thought that all year. Silky smooth both in his skating and puck handling. Good mind for the game, very few obvious mistakes for a freshman Dman. Love him as a player. Love even more that as an undersized defenseman, he won't be leaving anytime soon.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

If you listen to the coaches audio on HE website, pretty sure York said we enter the Garden at the top of our game. Someone correct me if I misheard that. I hope that is just coach speak because if that was BCs best, it will be a short time at the Garden and wherever they end up in the NCAAs.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Congratulations to Thatcher Demko (Co-Player of the Year) and Colin White (Rookie of the Year). Well deserved.
Can't argue with Leaman as Coach of the Year. It's tough to lead a team to a share of the RS League title after winning a NC and losing some of the talent they lost. Good on him.
Nice to see Jerry getting noticed by his peers for his accomplishment. You'll always be #1 in our hearts coach! :)

Go Eagles! Kick some Husky arse!

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

These were released after my last post...

First Team Hockey East: Thatcher Demko and Ryan Fitzgerald
Second Team Hockey East: Ian McCoshen and Colin White
Honorable Mention: Austin Cangelosi

Congratulations guys.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

This is exactly why coaches want the first game. Who knows when this thing will end

I'm at work because I can watch here without missing a minute..., the longer this goes the weirder the looks from security will be

it's not their fault, they are having to witness the most boring game between two excellent teams i think i've ever seen. The last two minutes of regulation were good, that's it. Like scratching a blackboard. Jesus, will SOMEONE score please?

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

kudos to NU, hope they win tomorrow and get into the tourney

that being said that was probably one of the most disgusting performances from a bc team in a tournament in a while. we've all seen bc teams that don't have the talent lose in various tournaments but that wasn't the case tonight.

i can't think of a single dman that had an even average game. mccoshen had the worst game i've seen him have in 3 years. it was just so bizarre, i'm not sure if he's hurt or what.

is there a more frustrating player than tuch? all the size, skill, shot in the world. you'll see glimpses of it, then he'll disappear for long stretches

oh well they've earned staying east but with a performance from the blue line like tonight it'll be one and done again.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I think nu can still make it in even with a loss

BC just not playing well. Two dumb penalties at end, colin white turnover, 11 shots on goal entering 3rd period. You name it. Could see this coming last weekend. Question is, what do you do this week?

perhaps BC didn't have their best outing last night.. but our goalie didn't either.. worst rebound control in a while for him. Also, have to remember.. either side playing well or not.. these 2 played twice earlier in season with a tie.. & a one goal Eagles win.. only fitting that last night was a one goal win the other way. Been a close three gms, this season split right down the middle. Really hope we can make the post season.. they have been trying so hard second half..would be a shame.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Good news is you can always look at examples like yale and providence. You don't necessarily have to be playing well to win it. But, if they weren't able to get their **** together after last weekend i can't say i am all that optimistic. We'll see. They CAN play a lot better. Not sure if they will.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

This will be the fourth year in a row BC doesn't win the Hockey East Championship, I believe this is their longest drought in some time. In fact, they haven't won any late season trophies since 2012. The talent is certainly there and their legendary leader is still there, but fact is, two missing pieces to the puzzle departed in 2013. Coach Logue and Coach Cav brought a different level of pride, passion and a sense of family to the program that appears to be missing, or atleast severely diluted. These young men, who have their sights set on the next level, need to learn and feel what it's like to play for something bigger than themselves. Until college it's been select teams and junior teams, all loaded with "me" first attitudes. To play for BC used to be selfless, I don't get that same feel. Judging by results and their immature actions, these kids are missing something. Coaches and successful leaders demonstrate behaviors that are contagious. My take is that Coach Logue and Coach Cav not only preached it, but lived it and it reasonated with players.

Agree or disagree, BC hasn't seen a championship in while and they are the missing links.

Hoping they prove me wrong in the NCAA, but can't help thinking about it.
