Re: Boston College Hockey Thread: Frozen once again
I'm almost positive you do need a passport now. Joe, the caravan idea is definitely the best way to go on a budget, it's what we did in 07 when BU played 2 in Ann Arbor. Since not all of us had passports, we drove along 90. It's a bit longer, but there's no time lost at customs, and it's a ridiculously easy drive with no traffic except cleveland. With a group of 25 which was slightly larger than we had, inevitably someone won't have a passport, so this might be your safest bet. If you want more info, our mutual friend from braintree who may or may not be a liverpool fan that writes for inside hockey was on the trip with me and he can tell you more.
All hatred aside, it's great that you guys are making the effort to get out there, and props to BC for helping you out, BU only made a small effort to get a few extra tickets for students, but didn't help defray costs or anything, then dicked everyone over by giving them out via raffle (open to the entire campus) instead of the usual first come-first serve to ensure those who want them, get them. It's a great way to meet people and have a great time as a student. Drain your bank account dry, you won't remember what you spent those dollars on 10 years from now if you don't go, but you won't forget going there for the rest of your life, so just make it happen. It was absolutely amazing that we had 2 student sections in DC, (hey, I have to hold onto something this year) and being there with your friends and those who followed the team with you all year makes it that much more special. Best of luck putting this together, I hope as many of you as possible can make it out there.
From the ESPN.com writeup:
Is it me or does that sound contradictory?
Superfan Joe: The quickest way to Detroit is to go to Buffalo then pick up the 401 across Ontario, then back into Motown at Windsor. (I remember this from when I was doing these crazy road trips way back when.) Remember to check into immigration requirements at the border - you may need a passport now.
