Boston College hockey 2021-2022

Recovering from hip surgery so I couldn't drive up to Hartford from NYC. Saw the streaming. Re matching minors, I've always maintained that either a penalty or an embellishment, but not both.

Good win last night. But based upon this team's consistent inconsistency, we should all be expecting a disappointing performance tonight.

Very bad part of the schedule is over, 5 of the last 6 games on the road. Didn't see the game but based on the lopsided shot advantage to UML I am guessing that BC was pretty legless. They picked it up in the 3rd it seems but tough to play two away games when the other team has two home games. ABout 1/3 into the season and they can't seem to get any mojo going. To make any noise this year they are going to have to step it up. Coverage in the defensive zone is really hurting them at this point.

Hopefully they can win tonight for back to back W's on the weekend
but if they follow the trend win one lose one vs Maine

Not even in the top 20 now in the polls

Nice win vs Maine but really need to start to see some consistency from them.

Also, another big commit incoming with Will Smith from the NTDP. Had been committed to Northeastern but BC was able to flip him. Considered one of the top 05's in the country. The '23 recruiting class is incredible, Smith, Vote, Fortesque, Leonard, and Minnetian in one class is crazy

Looking at the highlights from last night, Kruse is taking off. You can see the skill. He has something going with McBain. Goals from three lines. Again, should be a good team but now need to go on a run. Can't keep splitting weekends. The upcoming games against Notre Dame and Harvard are magnified by the losses to Bentley and CC. Those are massive games.

There seems to be a lack of focus and consistency on this team as we all know. They need to put it together together the rest of November and December.

Losing this senior class next year is a hole. McBain, McLaughlin and Giles come to mind and I hope they have good class coming in September of 22'

And they lose the grad transfers who have helped stabilize the sudden loss of talent to the pros

It has been discussed from time to time but I am thinking Brooks Orpik could be a future replacement behind the bench after JY retires.

Other guys mentioned were Greg Brown or even Cavanaugh coming back but Brooks is young and has much pro experience and hopefully can connect with younger players at the college level.

Watching these recent BC teams I think there has to be some changes and adjustments which I don't see during many games. I don't see any of the assistants as future head coaches behind the BC bench.

McBain has really turned into a beast. His overall development has been impressive. Most impressive.

If BC can consistently keep players like McBain, McLaughlin and Giles for 4 years that is how you get back to being a consistently good program. More players like that sprinkled in with the top end talent.

Good win, solid in all three zones, Maine is a work in progress, but there was some pretty spicy passing that resulted in goals. The pass from behind the net by Kruse was slick, a la Johnny Hockey. I agree the McBain is a real force whenever he is on the ice. New lines seemed to click. Nesterenko has an incredible handle, may over play at times but he is very dangerous in the Ozone.

And the inevitable disappointment that follows every instance of progress. Would it kill this team to string back to back quality efforts together? Sigh.

When a tie feels like a loss, several posties, Maine carried the play in the second. Several guys sitting, with injuries I assume. Disappointing to not come out with two wins.

Same old story. One great performance on the weekend accompanied by a game where they can't find a way to scratch out a win and complete the sweep.

Well a disappointing weekend but win one lose one is the name of this team so far

Football team laid an egg too today

I was speechless driving home with my buddies from the game

Can't explain the play calling by the OC and the breakdowns in all phases of the game in the first half

FSU just out coached BC staff

Despite that BC had a chance to win at the end and play calls again mystified everyone

Run after run up the middle and unbelievable bad play calling by the OC

giving up 3 points when they had a sure FG in the 1st half

and a safety in the end hurt them

Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving )

With today's news about the Notre Dame and Harvard games being postponed due to COVID protocols, it makes sense now why Helleson and Warren were not in the lineup on Friday.

Those were separate issues. Maine player was suspended for a hit on Helleson that resulted in upper body injury (concussion). I don't have the link but York danced around why Warren and Andres were out and deemed it a "medical" issue/illness. With schools like BC requiring the vaccine I do have to wonder when we will get to a point where we can stop testing athletes. I know that will offend and outrage people but at some point you need to take that next step. Stop testing and if you show symptoms stay away from the team like you would with any other illness. My employer required the vaccine. But they don't go and routinely test everyone after that.
