BC has 3 games in hand on PC and only 2 points from 1st place
Next weekend, they have to take advantage of those games in hand
Newhook is really producing when most expect Boldy to be the better player
Hopefully Boldy will break out soon

PC has two games next weekend also so that isn't when the games in hand are....
It is the Maine weekend which PC does NOT play but then PC plays on Beanpot Saturday so we are back at 2 games. The other two games in hand are Feb, 27th vs Merrimack, March 7th at UNH.

UMass is very good team. No shame in a split with them. Very big for BC to come back and win it in their barn after they took the first game here. Great to see Boldy break through. His talent is obvious and anyone watching him can tell that it's only a matter of time until he truly busts out and has like 8 points over a 5 game stretch or something like that. It might be happening right now.

A few quick thoughts on the weekend.
Two major heavyweight programs going at it - probably the two best teams in the league. Umass was very lucky to get any points at all; BC outplayed them on Friday night. BC looked like the better team overall. PP was the main difference on Saturday night though. UMass has taken on that mold of UML where there are few week links and they take the body and eliminate the man on EVERY single play. EVERY. TIME. It's infuriating to some degree. That being said, they have some nice offensive talent and that kid on D that just returned from the WJC is slick as hell. Carvel has done an insane job. Absolutely insane. Contrast that to what BC was doing in the first 10 or so minutes on Saturday, they literally couldn't be bothered to finish a check if their lives depended on it. All fly-bys and they were letting the puck and man past them on the whiffs. It was crazy to watch. They were lucky to get the two quick goals to take a lead and that seemed to wake them up and raise their level of play.
I thought McBain took two bad penalties on Saturday, especially in the last one in the offensive zone. I guarantee you the coaches were not happy with that. We cannot forget the struggles early in the year that really all hinged on a copious amount of stupid penalties.
A lot of good puck movement. Boldy not only getting a goal but also the slick kick of a pass that was behind him onto his stick at the red the line, and dishing to Warren for a goal seconds later on the 2 -on-1 that wouldn't have happened if he doesn't handle that pass.
Hardman/Newhook is a nice combo. Newhook's pass through a dman's legs to Hardman for a goal was a beauty.
Generally would like to stay positive... still have a major concern about one spot that struggled this weekend.
Umass continues to have the most clownshoe fanbase in all of hockey east by a mile.
On to Umass-Lowell.

That one and the OT lost at UMA in the last 3 seconds kept them out of the tourney. I am sure Jerry replayed those games in his mind over the summer. Speaking of McBain, he came within a whisker of a major on a hit that was just below the head, if he had left his feet or hit the guy a little higher he would have been gone. Like the physicality but you have to use your head and not hit the other guy's head.

Also they took a very long look at that hit. I think the determination was he made body contact at the same time as contact with the head. That looked like a good clean hit to me but it was close. So maybe ease up and don't put yourself in situations where they need to go to replay. Don't wanna put your fate in their hands!

The only game that mattered was the HE Tournament Final to get in
But realistically with only 11 wins they didn’t deserve it and losing the last game was the only way to get in

Any news on Giles? I heard that he has a shoulder injury and might be out for the year. Hopefully, this is not true.

Indeed . Watched the feed from Dallas TX. Tsongas seemed lifeless on the feed . Lowell looked like it had a real shot to tie at the end ,the feed only in laptop so not ideal .....It’s on to Conte and let’s win there ......or something like that .

I’d hate to be a Lowell fan showing up about 2 mins late (let’s be honest there is really never a good time to be a Lowell fan).
Would have liked to have seen Greco bury the breakaway but the ever-valuable McLaughlin banged it in. Glad Mr HatTrick is sharing the wealth. Newhook having an impact nightly. Logan being Logan.
On to BU.
