Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

and if BC somehow hangs on to win the title, there is no argument against York. only case is if they stumble to third maybe.

Unless York gets treated like Belichick due to fatigue.

I say he deserves it.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I would agree with that. I think showing improvement counts for something and Jerry has gone the other way with his team.
BC lost 7 outstanding players to the pros including Demko, Woods, and Santini among others. And you're going to comment that his team has "gone the other way"? What a maroon.
York so deserves this award.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Go easy on Drew, he doesn't like York (says more about him than anything else)

He's also stuck with Red Gendron. Tough times.

On-topic side thought:
It's still an absolute brain-melter that York has not won a Penrose at BC. They should just rename the award after him when he retires as a mea culpa for allowing knuckle-dragging troglodytes to cast votes on this award.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

I could've sworn York won the Penrose once, in 2008. Who won it that year? And Jerry winning the HE COY is a no brainer. Seriously, two games left in the season with a solid chance for regular season champs after losing so many players, and some of those leaving left late.....how do you not win? I don't think they'll give to Jackson. I don't think ND did anything great or out of the ordinary. If BU manages to eke out the regular season, then maaaaaaaaaybe he has a shot but I don't think he's close to being a favorite.

I think "gone the other way" was in terms of performance down the stretch of this season, not relative to last season...

What if UML pulls off the sweep of BC this weekend and finishes 1st in Hockey East? I would have to think Bazin would have a solid chance at HE COY at that point.

That's actually a fantastic idea. He last won a Penrose in 1977. Astounding. As for his BC days, his best shot was probably '98. That went to Tim Taylor at Yale. Led them to first NCAA appearance since the 50s.

Is the voting done after the FF? 2001 was another chance. Dean Blais won it.

Not really sure why but Red Berenson won it.

Here's the list:

Bingo. If you swapped halfs York would easily win.

I don't dislike him but do think he is very overrated.

LOL

hot takes like that could get you on to one of those embrace debate shows!

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Not really but at the same time dumb remarks make for a fun time.

Speaking of troglodytes...

Just read this article this morning. Bob Kraft nailed it:
Envy and jealousy are incurable diseases

Good luck with this Drew, and whatever other diseases you may have. :D

For a guy that wins a lot of trophies and very few awards, I would find it hard to say he is overrated but... maybe it was one of the other diseases (syndromes?) talking for you.

Ah, okay, so I'm going to nominate Mark Dennehy. Merrimack was pretty bad in the 1st half of the season, but they are unbeaten in their last 8 so that's a "yuge" improvement (even though the 2 wins against BU were primarily due to "lack of focus" by the Terriers) ;)

I think were that to happen it would be a push between Bazin and York. And in that case I think York takes it home

Sweeping BC this week doesn't mean UML finishes first, though. There are two teams ahead of UML who would benefit greatly from a BC sweep.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2016-2017 Season Thread

Yes, as all the FF participant coaches are automatically finalists. Finalists are the conferences' COY's plus any FF participants who weren't their conference COY

Penrose is selected after regionals but before the FF games are played. Awarded the Wednesday before the semifinals I believe.

I think that's why he used the "and"

I don't think Jackson has a shot simply because Notre Dame is leaving. And I think Quinn's best shot is to sweep Notre Dame this weekend and wins the conference by 2 points (Lowell sweeps BC). If they tie and win the tiebreak (this would be with BC), I would bet York wins it. In a threeway tie, I feel like York wins it again.
