Boston College at UMass (Friday, 10/19)

Re: Boston College at UMass (Friday, 10/19)

Except for the 7,100 fans that came out for the last game against UConn. I hate those pesky facts, always getting in the way of arguments.
7100 for UMass-UConn hockey? No accounting for taste I guess. Lots of people watch Two and a Half Men as well. And have you tried to get into the Olive Garden on a Friday night?

Really?? That's your argument?? Hahahaha. Leave it to the BC fan to not understand SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM. Wow, if I was able to write your response for you I couldn't have come up with anything that would have made you look worse and better captured the essence of BC fans. Thank you!

The epitome of of rapier wit... haha, I troll better than you, lots of caps. I'll make sure to support my team tomorrow night. Hear they're doing something about a banner?

BC pulls one back, Arnold from Hayes. Then Straight from Hayes to pull within 3-2. Rowe makes it 4-2. BC probably managed to lose this one by putting forth a putrid effort for the first 40, but hopefully something they can build off of going forward by flashing some offense, especially from the usually awful Hayes line. The poor defense in front of Milner, on the other hand, should be an issue for much of the year.

Ain't not even two games into the season kinda soon to be so down on the Hayes line, especially with two goals tonight? The bigger problem is going to be the young D early on and the two 4th lines. Richardson and Vatrano not being out there for different reasons of course is really compromising the offense.

Umass is going to put up a "we beat BC in October" banner tomorrow night. "Banner night" for everyone on Saturday!

Hayes line issues go back to last year. Of course, he stepped it way, way up in the NCAAs. Bottom two lines is an issue, but I really don't think we're in a position to cry due to dearth of offensive talent... I liked the energy from the 4th line tonight. 4-4. Gotta love Patch Alber... not just saying this because he's suddenly an offensive juggernaut, but he's been underrated for a while.

The two fourth lines is the largest problem right now. With Hayes, Straight on offense and Alber on defense, you have guys that will show up some games. These bottom two lines don't strike me as being able to grind away any shifts in the offensive zone. Obviously not watching tonight's game but last Saturday they got hemmed in their own zone quite a bit and got grinded ON. That is going to be tough to rectify.

Straight had an excellent post season last year, scored in the exhibition game and scored again tonight. I think he's going to be fine.

Interesting. Really liked Mullane's game last week. Very good all around player.

SOG 15-5 BC in this period. 36-23 overall.

The way I look at it, compared to most teams, BC is still stocked at forward and while young, is talented on D. I think they'll have a tougher start than usual but will be a strong team come tourney time

Matheson and Doherty are each +2 tonight thus far
