Big Ten conference discussed, rejected

Re: Big Ten conference discussed, rejected

I think we have definitive proof that uw14 and VW are not the same person. Put that myth to rest. (unless, of course, he's playing with our heads).

Re: Big Ten conference discussed, rejected

Who says we still can't play UND and DU if a Big Ten conference is formed? There will be plenty of non conference opportunity and an effort can be made to get those teams on our schedule each year.
I'm sure DU & North Dakota would be thrilled to be abandoned by the Big 10 and then would gladly schedule the schools that stabbed them in the back with non-conference matchups.

Maybe not DU, but UND would definitely schedule both of them. They are the two biggest draws everytime they come to The Ralph, and the games vs. UND certainly draw well at Mariucci and the Kohl...

Oh, and the BTHC is a terrible idea...

Re: Big Ten conference discussed, rejected

Some of you Big Ten fans are so incestuous about it you lose sight of everything.

So far I count one Big Ten fan... Don't lump the rest of us in with him. There are three people on earth who think this is a good idea: VarsityWisconsin, Barry Alvarez, and BronkoNagurskiGuy (or whatever the **** his name is) on the GopherHole.

What I expect the BTN really wants is a Friday night game between BT teams, with BT bragging and conference standings on the line. There is a lot of difference between two BT teams playing against each other, with conference points on the line, then watching Ohio State play the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The non college hockey fans have never heard of the CCHA, the WCHA or the Quinnipiac Bobcats, and I would expect a good BT volleyball game to get better ratings.

I still think that bullpucky because if I'm not mistaken, the first live game ever broadcasted was Appy State at Michigan for football. If they really to fill the hole they have on friday nights, then they should start broadcasting the games, period. This weekend alone, you got UMD at Minnesota, Wisconsin at St. Cloud, Bowling Green at Michigan and Ohio State at Ferris State. Pick one of the four games and send a truck there. I'm sure the administations of St. Cloud and Ferris would probably bend over backwords to get a game broadcasted on the BTN.

The good games are already broadcast, so that leaves these, which are weak by BT standards.

and on a stick.

Man, I want to go to the minnesota state fair now...

Just a tip, the best food there: Bacon Wrapped Turkey Tenderloin at the summit stage. You are required to get a beer and eat while sitting down.

If your definition of good games is games involving the 'box store' brand name schools, then yes. By my count, last night not one big ten team won......

College hockey is a different beast, if you put teams like Ferris, SCSU, and Northern on TV fan bases will start to build up, just like they did for BSU during the frozen four last year. And no matter what, I'll take college hockey as a niche sport over the way D-1 Bouncy Ball and Leather ball are now, I dont want to watch brand name schools play each other constantly, I love watching a team like Ferris trounce tOSU....

I fail to see the issue.

Here's an idea:

If there's enough Western schools that want to form a league, then form say a Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association, and use the new schools along with UAA and UAF. That would free up some space in the WCHA and CCHA for future expansion (even if it's only 2 teams.. still better than none), or there could be some reorganization within the WCHA and CCHA as well.

the BTN and B10 can both blow it out their *** with a bthc
