Big Chill at the Big House

Re: Big Chill at the Big House

I bought 6 tix last wk. Looking forward to the event and great atmosphere for college hockey. The only thing missing is my Badgers. I went to the Camp Randall Hockey Classic in Madison, but this is looking like it is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event for any sports fan. Probably going to be over 100,000 strong. Awesome. Lets just hope that ESPN or Sports Illustrated gets wind of this and gives college hockey some publicity come Decemeber.

I would rather see FSN Detroit carry the event. The people who cover college hockey on there know what they are talking about more-so than the guys at ESPN that pretend to care for 2 games a year. It's a petty little thing, but I think it would do more for the people that watch instead of the ESPN people that would only be there because they are told to be there.

Being that this involves two Big Ten schools, there's only one network that I can think of that would be carrying this on TV...

Re: Big Chill at the Big House

Yes, I agree with you. No Barry Melrose. I obviously do not expect this game to be broadcasted by an ESPN Network, but it would be nice to see ESPN do small piece on the game for Sportscenter or just show a few highlights. I remember the Wisconsin/Ohio St gm at Lambeau Field made Sportscenter and thought it was pretty cool. Heck, just put one of the goals highlights on Top Plays or something.

BTN...haha..Yes, at least BTN is making an effort though to provide hockey coverage for UW, UM, MN, MSU, Ohio St. Anything is better than nothing.

Agreed, BTN Hockey coverage blows but I think they'll carry The Big Chill. I'd like it better if FSD aired the game but then again what do I care? I'll be at the game...

Re: Big Chill at the Big House

I agree with you. I've never heard that version, it doesn't fit the song very well and lacks the rhyming scheme.

I like the R rated version where I yell "quack"....but I won't post that.

The G rated version I've heard is:
Go to school at | MSU
Learn <strike>how</strike> to count to | te ' n
If you start to mess it up
We'll let you start again.
1, 3 Crap!
We're so dumb at MSU
We don't even care!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Holy crap we're half way there!

OK, but the eighth note before the 3rd beat ("count") sounds better lyrically if it's on "to", not "how".

I think this G-rated version has potential. Misguided ... but that's not what counts here :)

I feel like Murph being trashed at a college game has some nice symmetry. And of course Ken Daniels + any hockey is always win.

Just as long at Fred Pletch is not involved everything will be fine. I cant stand that guy! Sure he's good at his day job, but he's terrible in the tv booth. He knows everything about the players off the ice, but he doesn't bring anything to analyzing the game on the ice.

An event of this magnitude deserves only one broadcast crew.... Ken and Mickey.

Agreed. That should be a stipulation in the TV contract for this event, especially since we didn't even get Ken in The Cold War. IIRC, we got Matt Shepard and Fred Pletsch. But since it's being broadcast on the BTN, we'll probably get Pletsch as the play-by-play announcer.

Re: Big Chill at the Big House

stupid stupid stupid! Sorry, have to get that off my chest every once and a while since these are dumb games to be played. Hopefully the novelty will wear off after this one since you can't really get much bigger of a crowd then this.
