BG Hockey Predictions

Re: BG Hockey Predictions

I would say BG's future does indeed look much brighter from one fact alone, that they chose NOT to hire their distinguished alumnus John Markell as head coach as rumor in Columbus had him in contention for. :)
Hiring Markell would have had me seriously cheesed. If he couldn't build a consistent team with all the resources tOSU has to offer, what the heck would he do at BG?

Re: BG Hockey Predictions

I'm looking for consistent effort (the effort was pretty good last season) and more wins than last season. It's hard to say whether the offense or defense needs the most help; can't win many games scoring 2.43 goals per game while giving up 3.45.

Re: BG Hockey Predictions

More pathetic posting...atleast you are consistant in your nonsense...

That is classic!!! you are now my favorite poster!

FWIW, this was from an Atlanta Thrashers blog on the propects in camp:

Jordan Samuels-Thomas - has everything you need to make the NHL (size, shot, puck-handling, nose for the net) but speed. I'm told he picked it up later in camp, but I never saw him show "NHL speed" while I was there. I'd be thrilled to be wrong, because if he can skate at the NHL level, he can earn a spot there.

I have to agree with this, his speed was abysmal last year. Watching yesterday's exhibition against Wilfrid Laurier, his speed has improved since last year but he still isn't quite where he needs to be in that area. If he can improve that aspect of his game he'll be a force.

Re: BG Hockey Predictions

Did anyone else see Markell at Sunday's game? Mrs. Spiehler saw him. I was with her at the time but oblivious. Paluch came sprinting up the stairs past us before the game started.

It's going to be a long season.

Re: BG Hockey Predictions

I saw him as well, but didnt get a chance to speak to him.
He was sitting just in front of the pressbox, appeared to be taking notes, as if he was scouting.

FWIW: He was wearing a classic brown leather bomber jacket with freshly pressed khacki slacks. His hair, of course, was perfect.
