Best Instrumentalists?

Re: Best Instrumentalists?

Singers in general? AA women > white women > AA men > white men. From a technical standpoint, Aretha's #1.

Re: Best Instrumentalists?

Drums? Tony Thompson and Frank Beard are underappreciated.

Bass? Les Claypool for creativity or Verdine White for just exuding joy while playing.

Guitar? Steve Cropper, Billy Gibbons, and of course Carlos Santana.

Re: Best Instrumentalists?

SRV was my favorite guitar player. When he was backed by Double Trouble imho they were one of the best. Died in a helicopter crash btw.

Forget the comic but one had a joke that SRV had to die in a helicopter crash and we can't get Jon Bon Jovi near one dammit!

EDIT: Found it ... and of course it is Denis Leary. :D

Even when taking cheap shots, Leary finds an offensive attitude. On the death of Bee Gees brother Andy Gibb: “One down, three to go.” On a blues guitarist who died in an aircraft crash: “Stevie Ray Vaughan is dead, and we can’t get Jon Bon Jovi up in a helicopter.”
