Bentley Falcons 2013-2014: No offseason. No excuses.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2013-2014: No offseason. No excuses.

Just caught the "Know Your Enemy" on RIT (link: http://jarpride.com/2013/08/12/know-your-enemy-rochester-institute-of-tech/ )

Love reading an outsider's perspective on my [former] school. One quick note - Josh Watson left the school (or at least the team) this summer, so they have Jordan Ruby, Ken MacLean (Sophomore, played in 1 game last year), and a new Freshman goalie, Mike Rotolo.

I always enjoy match ups with Bentley, so I am hoping to see you guys come to the "hellacious" Ritter (or even Blue Cross Arena) in March!

Mar - thanks for teh update. I actually made an addendum that Watson was out in the article, so I appreciate it!

It's funny; I used to absolutely hate RIT when I was younger (and by younger, I mean about 4 or 5 years ago). But I've grown a real appreciation for what was accomplished up there, and the fact that they had exactly what I wanted. It's a great program, and it's one that I genuinely respect and want to beat every time we play! I think that's what I'd refer to as a healthy rivalry; I know a lot of us feel the same way when it comes to the team. From an insiders perspective, I know I got a few things wrong, but from and outsiders' perspective, now would be the time for Bentley to get some revenge on RIT for all the whuppings we've received over the years.

Ironically, Bentley hasn't beaten RIT at home since 2007, when I was a senior in college and when RIT was only in their 1st full season as an AHA member. Woof.

Good luck to Bentley this year. I am hoping RIT can rebound from last season and have another year like 2009-2010. :)

Komm and Torf are two guys who I cannot wait for to graduate. While I hope them success in their future endeavors, I wish them many very porous games against RIT.

One of the things I've talked about with many a person lately is just how good goaltending is in the league. Last year alone there was Capobianco, Chubak, Torf, Levine, Strang, and Ruby in the west with Komm, Meisner, Grogan/Bartus, Ginn, Tadazak/Leets, and whoever Sacred Heart had out there in the east. That's a murderer's row if you really think about it with the exception of SHU, which I think had more problems than just goaltending. Even with the guys coming back, there's still some ridiculous talent this year, even though it won't be like it was last year.

Shazowies.

Really strong group of goalies, as you stated. I follow AHA strongly, with the other conferences getting a little bit of attention - is this goalie situation as strong across the other teams? I would imagine it is, yet there are still blow out games.

Now thinking about traveling to Colorado for Thanksgiving to watch Bentley play Air Foce one night and UNH play CC the other; I have never been to either arena.

Snively - not sure how far CC is from Air Force but I know it's beautiful out there that time of year. Cadet Ice Arena is place that has to be seen just once, if only because the campus is amazing. Stop by the Cadet chapel. It's unreal.

Just need good balanced halves this coming season, as Bentley's offense dropped off dramatically during the second half of last season. The D should be better seasoned this coming year also. Like the thread titles says, "no excuses." There is no reason that this team should not earn a first round bye this season.

Agree wholeheartedly. This team needs to remain consistent. They finished top 20 in offense, but they were #1 until the end when thye dropped off considerably. We don't expect them to finish in the top 5 nationally, but if they're going to be top 20, they have to be consistent.

On the flip side, the defense went the opposite. They started out horrible and then worked their way up to the top half of D1 by the end of the year.

Also, KYE edition for Holy Cross. One team left and then it's onto getting ready for the season! Drove by the JAR yesterday,a nd the parking lot was full; youth hockey was back.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2013-2014: No offseason. No excuses.

one thing to fix. Canisius and Mercyhurst should probably read Canisius and Niagara fighting for western New York...

In terms of conference rivalries, Canisius and Mercyhurst is one of the more historic ones. I weighted putting Niagara in there because of the D1 connection in the old MAAC league, but decided to mention MC instead.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2013-2014: No offseason. No excuses.

Maybe Cornwall was hinting that Mercyhurst is not in New York State????

thank you RITProf! I really should have been clearer on my icorrection. I wonder how the battle for Lake Erie would sound? doesn't ring well for me right now...
