Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

great win tonight for BSU. For whatever reason they are playing much better on the road than at home right now. Win tomorrow and its on to the Final Five. Considering going if they get there.

I would go too but have other obligations at Ft Riley Kansas. I like the short-handed goal! Go Beavers!

Nice thing is it becomes a one out of two for the Beavers versus a two out of two for the Falcons.

An even strength, a power play and a shorty for the Beavs. Getting it done in all situations! Now get it done tomorrow night!

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

Well, that's the season. Sounds like the goal reviews were questionable (Schultzie on the Beaver Radio Network), but Bowling moves on with a 3-1 victory over the Beavers in game 3.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

You guys gave us fits this weekend. You have some incredibly fast skaters on your team. Good series and I'm glad we won't see you again until next year!

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

Is it too soon for naming the possible non-conference opponents?

I have heard BSU has Princeton and Arizona State, both in Bemidji, next year. They will also have the North Star Cup with SCSU in the first round, Minnesota/Minnesota Duluth in the final round.

Plus the Gophers in the Twin Cities due to not playing them in the first round of the North Star.

That would put BSU at 36 games, which would make sense with at least two games in Alaska.

When do they usually announce the non-league games for the next year? I'm hoping they keep UND or UMD on the schedule as well if possible. I also think its time for the gophers to drag their butts up to the Sanford center.

Ditto to BGFan. Best skating team I've seen all year. Your #23 was outstanding. Every time he was on the ice he was making something happen.

With what I have heard (and posted), the Beavers' schedule would be full. That would mean no UND or UMD next year.

If the North Star Cup continues as is after next year, the Gophers would make the trip to Bemidji the year Bemidji sits out. That would be 2017-18 season if all thing go like they have.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

I'm sad that the earth couldn't swallow the arena whole, leaving UAH to fill the spot.

I think I heard Schultzie say that BSU is making 2 trips to Alaska next year. One early in the season and one when the sun don't shine.

Coach Serratore has said in the past that he would not go past 36 games, even if 38 were available. You already lose one of your bye weeks to get from 34 to 36, and that second bye week he feels is just too important to the health of the team.

Thanks. Quick question though, why doesn't Bowling Green have any highlights of the playoff games up on the WCHA website? It seems like the other quarterfinal series have highlights up. Just curious as I would like to see the goals/no goals from Sunday night. Listening to Schultzie on the Beaver Radio Network, he made it sound like there was some controversy on how both were called.

Bitzer got mugged on the first one. I thought for sure that would be called back.

The disallowed Bemidji goal seemed like it should have stood if that one did.

BG has had a crazy amount of goals waived off this year, especially in the first half....something like 5 or 6.

Based on what had been waved off all season for us I would have thought BOTH goals would have been waived off.
BSU's goal.... the BSU player was failing onto Nell and Nell's mask was coming off when the puck was put in. His mask did come completely off.
BG's goal......a BG player hit Bitzer in the head with his elbow as Bitzer was trying to "snowangel" over the puck and get a freeze. It did effect him not being able to fully lay on the puck in the crease.

We had a similar situation at LSSU. They waived off a goal of ours to take the lead when contact was made with Deifel. They let the OT winner stand for LSSU when a player clearly ran into Nell and kept him from getting his blocker on the puck.
Bottom line.... WCHA officials stink........

there was controversy on calls all weekend, the review calls weren't the worst of them.
I don't make a habit of trashing refs, but it was not a well-called series.

I concur, Bemidji is a very talented team. Big shoes to fill next year for Gerbrandt, Parker, Ward, and McCormack...

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Looking Forward to 2015-16!

Beaver senior Cory Ward has signed an ATO with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL.
