Hiram College of Ohio announced last summer that it would add DIII hockey in 2025-2026 and has hired a coach to build the program (
Jeffrey Curto tapped to build Hiram’s first men’s ice hockey program). Not seen anything about conference - an interesting one, given their northeast Ohio location between Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown puts them between the UCHC in the east and NCHA in the west, but with some really long trips in either. Gut feel is that going east makes more sense.
Curious about their program overall, it's a big step for a college of maybe 800 students.
As for Beloit, the WIAC makes geographic sense but the NCHA makes much better school profile sense. Small, private colleges, as opposed to state universities.
