Beantown Women's Classic

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

SEVERAL birth years are incorrect...

Are these verified or can the players pretty much put down whatever they want?

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

No problem. Let me know if you need other divisions....

Ditto. Sent fancied up files to DC.

Thank you both! Next question is: How can I be in two places at two times, or time travel just a bit to skip the commute and make consecutive games in no time!

As an aside: OnMAA and Dontyell - the grill will be fired up on HUX's tailgate. Please join us!

Pretty sure this works on the honor system. Doubt very much if organizers check. For Chowder you have the option to fill in only the YOB and they will convert that to a Jan 1st B-day.

Would love to! Have HUX check his email ... message in to him!

Not sure if I can find whoopie pies before then ... but I will try!

Not sure what was the best part of the weekend, the Grill, the Weather, the company or the Hockey. :D Thanks to the grilling hosts. We dearly missed IceisNice though.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

Great tournament! I had a chance to catch a few games and was very impressed with the College Division games. The game between the stacked teams - the Cheli's and Sexy Back was a wonderful display of skill and speed. In the same division were some younger teams like the MissFits that were quite impressive and held their own against those top teams too! It was a chance to see the girls at the top of the game and some special kids that will be there in the near future! Didn't see much of the younger age groups but there was lots of excitement in the rink!

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

Heard that the Chelli's defeated the Polar Stars (Skudkin) in overtime 3 - 2 to capture the title. Winning goal scored with 14 seconds remaining in OT. Apparantly was quite the game with both teams showing fantastic skill and effort (at least according to the report). Excellent competition for the older girls as many of them prepare for 12 Nations Cup tryouts in Blaine, MN.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

With both Chowder and the renewed Beantown event in the books, time to discuss and compare.

Which do you prefer and why.
Pro's and Con's of each.

let's hear it.

Man..., with those rosters, it seemed like a national championship game repeat. Unfortunately a similar result as well :(.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

agree with your assessment. hoping this march will bring a different outcome; except i'm in the bc versus bu camp. regardless an excellent tournament that provided some continuity between the end of the school year and september for many of the girls.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

Can't have 2 events in the same state, on the same weekend...I doubt very much if wommen's C Cup survives. Kelly K. will eat their lunch.

Re: Beantown Women's Classic

the CC got a lot of very bad grumbling from most coaches in the stands, they have problems there

Kelly K told me he had planned for a 36 team event and booked three pads. He ended up with well over 40 teams, and with the other pads booked had to move the overflow to the other rink. Suspect he will book the whole facility next year. One of the obvious impacts at Chowder was a considerable reduction in the number of scouts present. Several AA teams at Chowder plan to head to Beantown next year.

Aside from the inequities in rosters, the number and spread of venues is a detriment to the survival of Chowder. Beantown, with the six rinks available at NESC in Marlborough makes life easier for those attending as players, parents, fans and scouts. Additionally, the format used prevents (in most cases) the kind of one sided affairs that have become all too familiar at Chowder. Chowder needs to adopt a similar format...and drop the insidious cash grab by charging $10 a day for games. (f there has to be a gate, charge a buck and everyone will happily pay and you'll make more money)
