BCS 2013-14: This space for rent

Oh, Iowa was the worst of the worst til the 80s. Wisconsin til the 90's. But when have the Gophers truly been a presence in the Big Ten since the 60's? Maybe '03? They still lost three conference games that year. So for 50+ years the Gophers haven't been a true threat in the B1G.

No one argues that. But saying that it can't happen EVER is a little silly.

Re: BCS 2013-14: This space for rent

Yeah, segregation could totally make a comeback, and then, watch out for those Gophers.

If Kansas State can win the Big XII here and there and Northwestern can have the run they had in the mid '90s-early 2000s (three B1G titles) then ANYTHING can happen. Will it? Who knows, but to say never is ridiculous.

Don't waste too much time and energy trying to reason with that doofus.

Nice win for ASU in the Rose Bowl to clinch the Pac 12 Southern Division, the toughest college football division according to Jeff Sagarin. Improbably, if ASU can beat the U of A in their rivalry game next week, ASU will host the Pac 12 Title game, given that Stanford has two conference losses to ASU's one. ASU has gradually gotten better as the season has gone by, unlike ASU teams under Dennis Erickson, where they started fast and then imploded in November.

ASU is an interesting team.. Would be interesting to see ASU/Wisconsin rematch in the Rose Bowl.

That would be interesting. I'm sure the Badgers would really be fired up, given how the game ended in Tempe earlier this season.

I'm still trying to block it out of my memory.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: those refs couldn't leave the field fast enough. They knew they ****ed up big time and had no idea how to fix the situation.

Re: BCS 2013-14: This space for rent

Well, this was a good week for a Clemson fan who hasn't given up complete hope for having a chance at the BCS Title game. Here's what needs to happen...

This week:
Clemson defeats South Carolina
Alabama defeats Auburn
Texas A&M defeats Missouri

Championship Week:
South Carolina defeats Alabama

This week or Championship Week:
Ohio State and/or Florida State lose

If the results that need to happen this week occur, then Clemson would be #4 in the BCS (most likely), and probably #3 if Ohio State loses to Michigan. Then, if FSU or Alabama lost, it would be interesting to see if the voters would move them below Clemson. Obviously, there would be strong arguments to keep Florida State ahead of Clemson regardless of when they lose. However, if USC beats Alabama after losing to Clemson at home, those arguments would be less persuasive.

Of course, Clemson will probably lose on the road to USC, but for at least one more week, it is fun to imagine getting a second chance at FSU.

So you're saying there's a chance... :p:D:D

If you wanna talk about the "What If" scenarios, I like the idea of Auburn winning out... The debate then becomes if a 1 loss Auburn team is better than an undefeated tOSU team... I think that would end up being a pretty inflamatory debate... The BCS can go out in style with that one :p

If Auburn beats Alabama, that clearly makes them the greatest team out there, and thus worthy of playing Alabama in the title game.

I say that jokingly but I'm pretty sure Kirk Herbstreet would say it seriously.

No, no, no...

The only point in doing a "what if" is if it results in Clemson being in the mix for a National Title. The only way I care about Auburn is if they beat Alabama, Alabama drops below Clemson, Florida State loses twice, Missouri falls again, and Ohio State drops a deuce in one of their remaining two games. Then we can talk about a Clemson-Auburn national title game.

The refs **** the bed fairly bad in the MSU/ND game as well.. not exactly helping the B1G out right now..

I was clearly inferring that Bama would lose Saturday, frenchy!;)
