Extremely pretty goal by Helleson (there's like 2.3 seconds left when the goal is scored, stops briefly at 1.8, then rolls to .1 and stops lol) and the rest was kinda meh/ugly. Penalties continue to kill these guys. Not all that upset with the final interference penalty, awkward pass/play Kuntar just tried to handle it and ran out of room. And yes they were missing a tremendous player in Hutsko but basically played BU's JV team (they are pretty good). They brought their A game, BC brought their C- game and still won.

Need to work on passing, everything revolves around it and it holds back the speed of these guys.

Newhook changes the game on the PP. He looked good and healthy ... and dangerous. Need to rest Hutsko until he's 100%.

3-on-3 overtime is terrible. Whoever dreamed up this idea should be taken out back behind the shed and given the Old Yeller treatment.

Before Helleson scored i was typing how I hated 3 on 3 OT. The take the puck out to the neutral zone to regroup is boring. Sure you get the occasional exciting chance but overall I think it blows.

I don't know if it was intentional and he tried lulling BU to sleep but Helleson sure as hell looked like he was content with going to the shootout. I thought he was just running the clock out in the d zone and then all of a sudden he's scoring a buzzer beater. Maybe he saw something late or is it possible he knew how much time he needed for literally one chance on goal? Just an incredible play.

I'm guessing he wanted to make a push where if there was a turnover there wouldn't be enough time for BU to score.

Heights recap says Hutsko will miss significant time with ankle sprain. I am guessing that could be a month. Then that gets tricky as to where you put him that late in the season. We'll see how that plays out but at least Newhook is back. If he can help elevate the PP there's no reason they can't keep

Agreed. I was watching the clock and basically knew what Helleson was doing. Which is why I was so frustrated that Fensore couldn't figure it out and force him to go wide, which would have likely required a pass to another Eagle to get a SOG (which there probably wasn't enough time for).

Totally agree on 3 on 3, it is like five minutes of fun at the end of practice. Fensore had a brain freeze I think because he thought there wasn't enough time and the game was over, Helleson with speed shifts right by him. WHoops. That one is going to leave a mark, tonight will be another tight one. Can Hustko get a break ? If he is out for a month it is a real loss. I do like the way Ambrosino and Nesterenko are playing, they are not Freshmen. Kuntar is good as well, plays like a bull. It was a bad too many men penalty, BC has had a number of those this year when they never had any in prior years. Need to clean that up.

Well, that was exciting no? Just an incredible, incredible play by Helleson, who is really coming into his own. I thought he played great in the WJC and it's carried over.

On the other hand, they let a significantly handicapped BU team play them blow for blow. I know Hutsko was out, but Farrance was out and you have to think that hurts BU more than BC, given the rest of their rosters. It really should not have been the struggle it was. And the penalties. Boy do I hate too many men penalties, a pure lack of discipline. And that almost cost them the game. And Kuntar needs to realize he can't put himself in that position with the way referees are protective of the goalie. If you end up into the goalie, you are getting a penalty, simple as that.

Glad they got the win, but they were fortunate.

Just look back to last year when BC blew the Beanpot game against BU. By the end of the season BC was primed for a run. These games are always close. So despite BU being shorthanded, BC won the game. Without Hutsko, I think we're going to continue to see a lot of close games. We'll be saying they aren't playing their best but still finding ways to win. Newhook is the key now. If that line plays like they did last year and he helps the PP like he did in setting up Boldy last night, they'll be in good shape. With the way the 4th line has played, addition of St. Ivany...it's a deep team.

McInnis taking an interference penalty while on the BCPP in the Ozone while we were in control of the puck. One of the dumbest penalties I have ever seen that did not involve retaliation. Turned the game around and still is painful to think about.

Good question. Either way, BC down two top nine forwards. Hope they can hang in there against mighty BU!!! :D;)

It’s amazing that we have the record we do. We started out the season playing so well, but man do we look like crap considering the talent we have. I know games against BU are usually always close, but this is a BU team who is not only rusty but also severely short-handed. Our defense is pathetic. We hardly ever control the play for extended periods of time (UMass does this really well). We have so much individual talent, but it’s like these guys have never played together before. It’s infuriating. I blame the coaching staff. The PP is beyond atrocious. If we were to play Duluth, North Dakota, Minnesota, etc. we’d lose 7 or 8 out of 10 games. I’m not sure what the problem is, but we need to fix it. We won’t be winning any championships playing like this.

Sheesh, take a step back from the ledge. BC has a 28-18 edge in shots and had to kill a major. They are not a terrible defensive team. Thankfully it's still only early February. Newhook is back, take a breath.

This team kinda.... is not that great.

Might be time to blow the lines up and get back to basics like passing, passing, passing, shooting, passing, skating, passing, and passing.

Been a few months since they put forth a good 60 minute effort and looked like a competent TEAM that actually practices. I'd love to get an honest assessment from York on their practices. I can only imagine they practice like garbage.

Anyway, on a positive note, McBain was a beast out there. Take the split and move on but need to learn from these games ... I'll be honest the talent is there and the team just hasn't gelled so it's not time to panic. Aside from the stupid penalties on a daily basis, there aren't a ton of red flags. The PP will improve with Newhook back.

Too predictable on the PP, they stayed high and BU able to predict and defence it

3 costly BC mistakes and BU took advantage of each even though BC outshot BU 41-23

The 2nd BU goal was on a costly turnover or poor clearing pass from the BC player and the BC over skating the play letting the BU player go down the slot for a snipe

Another goal on a 2 on 1 turnover by BC leading to a nice BU goal

You’re telling me you don’t see any problems with this team? We could not compete against the best teams in the Midwest the way we’re currently playing. We just made Vinny Duplessis look like Martin Brodeur. He’s a freshman making his first collegiate start and we score one goal against him. They were without Farrance, Commesso, Cockerill, and Amonte. We were without just Hutsko. I’m not saying BC is a mediocre team. We’re not. We’re a good team. Right now though, we’re not a great team. **Considering the individual talent on this team** we’re playing very poorly right now. Passing is choppy and inaccurate. The PP is a mess. Guys stand around at the blue line and take outside shots too much. We get very cavalier with the puck in our own zone. It’s ok to admit this team is not clicking. With the talent we have, we should be dominating games. Aside from the Northeastern game this past week, we haven’t dominated a game since the 9-0 win over Providence. We have (probably) the best goaltender prospect in the world, two legit first round picks who made up probably the best line in the country at the end of last year, multiple other studs like Helleson, St. Ivany, and Hutsko, excellent depth guys like McBain, Giles, and McLaughlin, and a bunch of freshman studs in Powell, Kuntar, Nesterenko, and Ambrosio. And yet, we look disjointed and sloppy a lot of the time. The coaching staff needs to fix this

They haven't had any postgame pressers for men's hockey that I have seen. They have em for men's/women's hoops and women's hockey but never anything from York after home games.

I think they'll need the Newhook line to take off like last year for everything to fall into place. Deep team but not quite the 1-2 punch of the Cotton line and then Newhook line.

And no I am not saying there aren't any problems. I think the PP will improve with Newhook back and I also don't think Knight is at the top of his game right now. The last three games BC has given up 28, 24, 23 SOG. Outshooting the opponent in all three games.
