BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

Re: BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

Roy was scouted by Madigan for the penguins and he has ties to NU as a legacy non hockey. Also, this game was not that close NU dominated in most every aspect of the game for most of the 1st, part of the 2nd and at around 10mins of the 3rd were skating circles around BC. BTW John Gaudreau was BC 's best player on the ice but he didn’t not have the offense skill of ROY tonight/ Should be a good game next week @ BC looked tired. Word is NU had a strength and conditioning coach from the KHL this summer.

Re: BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

What's up with the cry baby behind your bench? That guy has to find a little class. Worse than Jackie, but at least Parker brings it when he is behind or has lost the game. Looked like Madigan was going to punch Yorks's lights out at center ice after a win. Grow up, coach.

What was he upset about?

Re: BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

.. what happened to Madigan tonight.. looked like it was more directed at the official (Quinn), rather than anyone on the BC coaching staff.. he did seem ticked off at the officials, at the end of the gm - anyone care to shed some light?..

Anyway, great gm by the Huskies, we'll enjoy it long as it lasts.. certainly nice to beat the National Champs & top seed. Complete team effort.

Oh & thank you Mr Rawlings :).

Roy was scouted by Keefe while he was coaching Brown and developed a relationship there that when Roy took off led him to NU. Madigan had nothing to do with it as the kid had been committed to Brown until August. Get your story right. Roy is not a Madigan kid, he is a Keefe kid.

As for Madigan at the end of the game, look at the penalties with one second left. That was what had him fired up. It happened right in front of him, and he was looking for protection from the refs for his players.

Nice game by NU. The game on Wednesday against the Mack helped tonight as they made some improvements. Hopefully they get DD and Gunn back on defense soon as NU cannot continue to play with 5 dmen every night. It did not work last season either.

Nice to get a weekend sweep and only get one goal from the first line, and at this it was less then a minute into the first game of the season. If those guys start hitting the back of the net, Saponari was close tonight, things will look even better.

I enjoyed tonight, but I do not put much stock into winning against BC in October. I would not rate NU as a buy stock just yet. Still neutral with a "watch" on them. Goalie can still be flightly, defense has issues, scoring needs to happen when Roy is not on the ice.

I have seen more then enough great Octobers only to see the calendar turn and everything fall to pieces. BC knows that October is a time to learn and January is when you start to play your best hockey. I wanna see 60 minutes in February like I saw tonight.

Re: BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

Good win for NU tonight. You took it to BC with the pedal to the metal.
How the heck is Roy not wearing a BC sweater? ;) The kid's the real deal.

What's up with the cry baby behind your bench? That guy has to find a little class. Worse than Jackie, but at least Parker brings it when he is behind or has lost the game. Looked like Madigan was going to punch Yorks's lights out at center ice after a win. Grow up, coach.

I didn't see that as I left before they started shaking hands at center ice. If it's about the hit when the NU player went down, I didn't see anything dirty about it. Hockey is a contact sport and there was nothing out of the ordinary about it as I was sitting in that end where it happened.

I was sitting in section 2, 1st row by myself. Some of the NU faithful need to know the game and the rules. This one girl kept whining about everything and finally the guy told her that the play was offsides and explained to her that you cannot go in the zone before the puck. Then you have other stuff and fans complaining about BC that and BC this .... etc. Please !!!! Learn the game and stop *****ing. We've been there and things may not go our way this year but hopefully BC fans will not ***** and moan like these people behind me. We will hang our heads high and continue to root for our team no matter what. We have a lot to be proud of and grateful for. Next week, we raise our 5th banner.

Maybe Madigan was just trying to fire up his team for the season for the long haul. BC will need time and to try to generate more offense if possible.

Congrats to NU. These things are bound to happen and you can't win every game. Right now, it's obvious they need to work on it and depth is a problem after losing the likes of Kreider, Almeida, Carey, etc.

Hayes, Arnold, and others need to step up, hopefully the sooner the better. This team will go through growing pains and hopefully by the end of the season, they will progress in all areas to be a contender in the playoffs.

I think this may be bigger for NU than normal due to the fact that after the start last season they needed to start the season strong. I do agree though that the loss is not that big of a deal for BC. The BC now and the BC on the first two Mondays of February are going to be very different.

a good game for NU. i thoroughly enjoyed how they contested every single inch of the ice. Roy is a nifty little player; but he isn't Gaudreau.

I don't think he's better but he was way more dangerous tonight. And he's a freshman, Gaudreau's a sophomore.

Are you serious, he was mad at the official not York. Sorry, a coach never has the right to be ****ed at the end of a game.

Exactly.
FWIW... it wasn't a big deal, but Jerry had stopped at center ice, extended his hand and started to say something when the two went to shake hands. Madigan never slowed down, never looked at Jerry, grabbed Jerry's hand and kept right on walking by.
If your mad at the kids do you take it out on your wife?

Re: BC at NU 10/13/12: the building rivalry renews

What was he so upset about to begin with? It doesn't sound like a whole lot happened in this game. His team won and had more PPs by a wide margin. Did one of his players get hurt? If so, I haven't heard anyone say anything about that. Mad Man Madigan has a nice ring to it.

To answer your for what it's worth question, about as much as stock options on your football program.

I mean the consequences are different in these analogies. It's not like he pulled a Harbaugh/Schwartz. Maybe he explained himself partially at the press conference.

There was a contact to the head and game misconduct called on the last second of the game on Mullane. Maybe he was upset at that?

Relevance? And of all people, NU fans should stick to a hockey discussion (although there are a lot of painful memories...)

If that's the case, the refs called it...so why would he be yelling at them?

I was thrilled to see Mullane & Arnold step in after someone took a run at Whitney at the end of the game
